Telehealth Triage Nurse - Remote | Wfh

We have an amazing opportunity for passionate and skilled Registered Nurses to join our team! As part of our dynamic healthcare organization, you will provide compassionate telephone triage and health advice to callers from the comfort of your own home. Using world-renowned Schmitt-Thompson protocols, you'll play a vital role in remotely delivering nursing care advice and addressing patients' medical questions and concerns.
What sets us apart is the variety and complexity of calls we receive. In addition to triage calls, we handle inquiries about medical conditions, medications, diagnostic tests, and more. As a Registered Nurse, you'll need to be an attentive and engaged listener, possessing strong critical thinking and clinical assessment abilities. You'll make independent decisions, ensuring accurate and timely care, while documenting clear clinical data. Every call and encounter will be electronically documented and recorded for accuracy and continuity.
Responsibilities
Provide compassionate telephone triage and advice, assisting callers in making timely medical decisions.
Utilize protocols and exercise clinical judgment to determine the appropriate disposition and level of care for patients.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to our documentation standards, promptly completing medical records.
Deliver clear and concise information and direction during patient encounters, ensuring their understanding and comfort.
Shifts And Scheduling
At our organization, we operate 24/7 to meet the needs of our callers. This means your shifts may include days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Our highest operational need at the moment is during weekend afternoons on both Saturday and Sunday. Please note that we currently have a full overnight team, but permanent overnight positions may be available based on seniority when space allows.
What We Expect From Our Nurses
Create a private HIPAA compliant home office with high-speed internet connectivity (wired/ethernet highly recommended).
Provide your own computer equipment, including a computer or laptop, second monitor, keyboard, mouse, wired headset, and high-speed internet.
Participate in staff meetings via telephone or video.
Fully comply with FONEMED policies and procedures, including HIPAA privacy requirements.
Give patients your dedicated, undivided attention during your calls, ensuring they feel heard and cared for.
Qualifications And Experience
Completion of a recognized Nursing program.
Minimum of 3 years of recent clinical experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably in areas such as ER/Urgent Care, Adult, Pediatric, OB/GYN, Orthopedic, Ambulatory Care, Home Health, or ICU.
Active RN license in CA is required, along with an active license in your home state.
Active licensure in additional states (AK, PA, NY, OR, and WA) would be an asset, or a willingness to obtain licenses at our request.
Previous experience with telephone triage using electronic triage software and computerized medical protocols will be considered an asset.
Familiarity with the Barton Schmitt/David Thompson guidelines is beneficial.
Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with callers and provide reassurance.
Strong clinical assessment skills to make accurate and informed decisions.
Proficiency in a Windows environment and keyboarding ability.
Bilingual abilities in English/Spanish or another language will be considered an asset, enabling you to assist a diverse patient population.
