We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to fill a 9-month tenure-accruing position. This role will involve a balanced commitment to teaching (30%) within the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and groundbreaking research (70%) within the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station. Responsibilities
Research Excellence: Develop a collaborative and internationally recognized research program centered on the application of remote sensing, geospatial analytics, and visualization technologies to marine resource management. Contribute to advancements in gathering and analyzing geospatial information related to aquatic resources, using remote sensing techniques and advanced statistics.
Teaching Innovations: Lead undergraduate and graduate courses that captivate students' interest in aquatic science, natural resources, and geomatics. Ensure accessibility for distance learners and promote interdisciplinary engagement.
Student Mentoring: Actively participate in undergraduate and graduate education by supervising research projects, serving on committees, and publishing research findings alongside students.
Extension Activities: Engage in extension initiatives that align with your expertise, promoting practical applications of your research in real-world contexts.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate with faculty across various programs and departments, seizing opportunities to initiate interdisciplinary projects and contribute to the university's vibrant academic community.
Qualifications
Education: A doctorate in a relevant field, such as remote sensing, fisheries, geography, or geomatics.
Research Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in applying remote sensing and geospatial analysis to aquatic resource management.
Collaborative Spirit: Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams and engage with stakeholders.
Effective Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, evident in presentations, publications, workshops, and interactions with diverse audiences.
Commitment to Diversity: Demonstrated dedication to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, research, and mentorship.
Preferred Experience: Postdoctoral experience and familiarity with online teaching methods.
