Job Description
We specialize in crafting enriching educational journeys, utilizing traditional in-person learning, groundbreaking virtual reality schools, and our unique VR-based student field trips and programs. Our approach encompasses a well-established liberal arts and sciences curriculum, tailored to provide families with diverse and high-quality educational options that align with their lifestyles and their children's individual needs. In addition, we extend our commitment to the broader education community, offering expertise in education management services, curriculum development, teacher certification, and professional learning. Our overarching mission is to pioneer innovative tools and resources that elevate the field of education, making classical learning accessible to every family.
This role, which is exempt and salaried, operates on a 10-month schedule and adheres to standard hours from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm daily. Compensation will be determined annually based on performance evaluations. Reporting to the Head of School, teachers will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience.
Primary Responsibilities
You will champion the educational development of scholars enrolled in exceptional student education programs, catering to both gifted students and those with disabilities. Your role entails a deep understanding and effective application of our academy's curriculum, fostering optimal educational outcomes for all scholars. You'll also employ innovative strategies to engage scholars across various learning styles, employing creative methods to tap into their diverse intelligences.
Key Duties and Tasks
Collaborate with district staffing specialists and ADAPT to initiate and complete pre-referral processes for ESE, integrating assessments and interventions to address areas of concern.
Collaborate with parents and educators to identify potential candidates for the gifted program, conducting screenings and further evaluations as needed, including administering the Kaufman Brief Intelligence Test.
Display a deep commitment to classical education and uphold the academy's mission, fostering these principles in scholars consistently.
Monitor and report scholar performance data, tracking progress toward IEP/EP goals.
Provide support to general education teachers, aiding in the implementation of accommodations or enrichment strategies.
Engage in continuous professional development to enhance job performance
Craft and deliver instruction targeting scholars with disabilities, facilitating their mastery of Florida Standards.
Develop curricula tailored for gifted scholars, stimulating their higher-order thinking skills and aligning with Florida Standards.
Contribute to the development of interventions for scholars with suspected disabilities.
Attend manifestation determination meetings as necessary.
Provide guidance to teacher assistants involved in scholar instruction.
Regularly consult with academy administrators on matters pertaining to ESE.
Fulfill any additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from a fully accredited college or university.
Possession of, or eligibility for, a Florida Educators certificate required by the Florida Department of Education (ESE, EH, EMH, MH, MR, or SLD, and a Gifted endorsement), including appropriate exceptional student area(s) certification and content certification as required by federal education regulations.
Desirable: National Board of Certified Teacher certification.
Desirable: Experience in a charter school setting.
Desirable: Background in classical education.
Desirable: Experience in online curriculum delivery or virtual reality education.
