Overview
At FlyOver, the Director of People & Culture (P&C) plays an influential and high-impact role in the success of our team. Th P&C leader will serve as a business partner to the FlyOver senior leadership team and attraction General Managers to strategically align P&C initiatives, practices, and procedures with the goals of the business. This position will also collaborate closely with the Vice President of P&C on a variety of strategic People and Culture initiatives that address the evolving needs of our business.
Responsibilities
STRATEGIC PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT
- Partner with the VP of P&C, COO & Executive Producer and Director of Operations to identify and develop programs and initiatives for FlyOver based on strategic priorities or identified gaps
- Partner in the build of P&C budget and oversee annual deployment of dollars
- Lead the implementation and roll out of new P&C processes, systems, and platforms
- Act as a liaison between the P&C department, FlyOver leadership team and attraction General Managers, fostering effective collaboration and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives
TALENT ACQUISITION
- Lead annual recruitment cycle, inclusive of building hiring targets and comprehensive plan for meeting them
- Play an active role sourcing, selecting and onboarding of Support Services and other key roles, and continue to identify enhancements to each of these processes
BUSINESS PARTNER, CHANGE, COMMUNICATIONS, CULTURE CHAMPION
- Partner in the development of comprehensive P&C metrics and provide visibility and coaching to Operations leaders
- Lead FlyOver communications as it relates to P&C and other organizational initiatives
- Serve as the strategic business partner to Operations leaders in a variety of areas to drive results
- Be a change and recognition champion, leading team member recognition programs
- Serve as a confidant to the leadership team and all team members to drive a culture of psychological safety and belonging
P&C TEAM SUPERVISION
- Prioritize HR projects and initiatives, assigning tasks and monitoring progress to ensure timely and successful completion
- Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and guidance to FlyOver P&C team, setting clear performance objectives and ensuring their productivity and professional growth
- Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment, promoting teamwork, open communication, and knowledge sharing among team members
- Delegate responsibilities and assignments effectively, considering individual strengths and development needs, while ensuring workloads are balanced and deadlines are met
PERFORMANCE DEVELOPMENT
- Lead Engagement Survey participation and action planning in partnership with Operations leaders
- Lead annual performance management/ appraisal and career development processes
- Assess individual and team training needs through performance evaluations and consultation with managers
- Train managers and team members on the performance appraisal process, providing guidance on goal setting, feedback delivery, and performance improvement
- Analyze performance appraisal data and consult with managers to identify trends, strengths, development needs, and areas for improvement at the individual and organizational levels

- Lead bench and succession planning to create a pipeline of leaders for future growth and opportunities
P&C TECHNOLOGY
- Be an expert in our current and future P&C platforms, to include ADP, iCIMS, and Culture Amp
- Provide ongoing feedback to the Vice President of P&C on processes that can be automated or streamlined to deliver a better experience to our internal teams – Operations and P&C alike
Qualifications
- US – SHRM-CP/SHRM-SC or PHR/SPHR desired
- Ability and willingness for travel to the business units within assigned geography on a regular basis
- Minimum of 7 years progressive people and culture experience, with a minimum of 3 years leading a team
- Prior hospitality experience strongly desired
- University or College education in Human Resources or related field desired
- Canada – CHRP-HRPA desired
- Prior experience working with a predominantly non-exempt workforce required
- Experience with HR transformation and taking a lead role in the development and implementation of P&C strategic initiatives based on business needs

You hang suspended, feet dangling, before a 20-metre spherical screen while our film whisks you away on an exhilarating journey across some of the world’s most iconic landscapes. Special effects, including wind, mist and scents, combine with the ride’s motion to create an unforgettable experience. Currently, there are FlyOver’s located in Vancouver, B.C., Reykjavik, Iceland, Las Vegas Nevada and coming soon – in Chicago. Several future FlyOver locations are proposed and are in the development stage.
