The AVP of Human Resources for Jackson Memorial Hospital (JMH) is responsible for developing and executing human resource strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of JMH hospital. The AVP of HR for JMH will work in close partnerships with the enterprise human resources and business stakeholders to provide strategic leadership in the areas of talent acquisition, employee and labor relations, employee engagement, patient experience, organizational and performance management, training and development. The AVP of HR for JMH will be responsible to design, execute and operationalize the people strategies and programs to support JMH specific business goals, in alignment with the Jackson Health System’s overall operational goals.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Focus on learning operational systems and processes to identify opportunities to improve performance, productivity.
- Provide overall leadership and guidance to JMH functional leaders and business lines managers by overseeing all of JMH HR operations and practices.
- Function as a strategic business advisor to JMH senior leadership team regarding people strategy and human resources functions.
- Collaborate with Senior Learning and Development leaders and specialists to coach managers in leadership abilities, relationships among teams/individuals, interpersonal communications and performance management. HR Compliance and Performance Improvement. Assist in the development and administration of HR policies and procedures.
- Work with managers and employees to investigate and resolve employee labor relations issues. Serve as an internal consultant to managers for people and organizational issues. Collaborate with Senior Employee Labor Relations leaders and specialists to help managers adhere to the CBA terms and address union related issues.
- Partner with business for workforce planning to ensure we can accurately forecast staffing and scheduling needs. Improve 90-day retention of new hires in key positions by focusing on the onboarding process in partnership with managers and onboarding team.
- Ensure that all HR initiatives and activities in the assigned business are in compliance with federal, state and local government regulations. Participate in performance improvement activities. Assist to maintain compliance with Joint Commission accreditation and other internal and external regulatory standards.
- Design, develop and implement various HR business projects and initiatives to proactively meet the needs of the assigned business; research best practices and provide strategic recommendations based on data analysis and incorporation of appropriate metrics to measure outcomes.
- Act as a point of contact for HR related processes, issues/questions for assigned business.
- Model behavior and provide support to contribute to the improved performance of the assigned business units.
- Collaborate with enterprise HR and business stakeholders to identify, plan and implement strategic objectives that are in alignment with the overall JHS business strategies.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in related field is required. MBA or MA/MS in human resources or related field preferred.
- SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of 7 to 10 years of HR related experience with at least five years of direct HR leadership experience. Considerable knowledge, skill and ability in labor management and collective bargaining agreement principles and practices.
