The employee relations/human resource specialist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR management in supporting designated geographic regions. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, FMLA, worker compensation, and unemployment claims.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Maintains all employee and applicant documentation as dictated by governing agencies.
  • Conducts and participates in employee grievances, investigations, disciplinary meetings, and terminations.
  • Maintains employee training logs.
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Special projects as assigned.
  • Ensures compliance with all state and federal discrimination and employment regulations.
  • Assist in general Human Resource (HR) administrative/clerical duties as needed companywide.
  • Adheres to policies, procedures, guidelines relative to departmental operations.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
  • Conduct onboarding activities such as pre-screening, background investigation and credentialing of new staff members. Demonstrates competency in the performance of job-related skills appropriate to his/her customer populations and departmental services while providing excellent customer service.
  • Utilizes and operates equipment and mechanical devices which provide for a functional, effective, and safe environment.
  • Reports, maintains and monitors all workers' compensation case files; follows-up on open cases.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel and assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Attention to detail, professional attitude, and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Maintains and monitors FMLA requests through third party portal
  • Assists with the preparation of the performance review process.
  • Assisting with legal and regulatory matters.
  • Provides advice and counsel to managers and supervisors regarding personnel practices, policy and employment laws under the direction of the Director of Human Resource and Human Resource Manager.
  • Files EEO-1 report annually; and maintains other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
  • Files and attends unemployment claims and hearings
  • Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
  • Associate’s degree in related field (preferred).
License/Certification:
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent HR certification (preferred)
Experience:
  • Experience with KRONOS HRIS (preferred).
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in Human Resources.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position may require duties including lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds, sitting for prolonged periods of time, with frequent standing and walking.
DRESS ATTIRE: Business Casual or scrubs dependent on department
