Position Description: Senior Development Manager

Location: 95% Remote 5% Travel

Founded in 1989, the Association of Energy Services Professionals (AESP) is a member-based 501c3 nonprofit organization currently serving 4,500+ members in the United States and Canada through its headquarters organization and 12 Regional Chapters. AESP is dedicated to ensuring a sustainable and resilient energy future through educating the energy industry on how to effectively develop, deliver, and implement equitable customer-centric energy efficiency, distributed energy resource, and demand flexibility programs for the electric and gas sectors. AESP does this by delivering accredited educational courses, member-driven publications, conferences, and online collaboration tools, as well as through the growth of its regional chapters, topic committees, special interest groups and networking events.AESP is a family-friendly workplace with a strong emphasis on work/life balance. SUMMARY

The Senior Development Manager reports to the Vice President of Member Engagement and is responsible for ensuring ongoing growth of AESP’s member community as well as identifying and securing sponsorships and other funding for AESP’s portfolio of events and program offerings. The Senior Development Manager will also proactively seek competitive solicitation, grant, and foundation funding opportunities to support AESP’s mission and the work of its volunteer member community. This position will play a vital role in growing AESP’s annual revenues, which currently stand at roughly $2.5 million, through fundraising efforts, business development activities, grant management, and foundation relationship management.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position can be located anywhere in the continental United States and work may be completed remotely. Air travel may be required two to four times annually to support in-person events.The organization will work with the successful candidate to identify and supply all appropriate resources necessary to complete assigned tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


New Member Recruitment

  • Collaborate with AESP’s marketing team to develop marketing and sales collateral to recruit new members.
  • Follow up on new group membership leads and track prospects pipeline.
  • Work with the VP of Member Engagement to develop and execute new member recruitment strategies and outreach campaigns.


Business Development and Contract Management

  • Provide administrative support for event sponsorships and exhibits, ensuring timely execution and coordination of contract requirements.
  • Identify and establish relationships with potential sponsors and exhibitors for AESP conferences and other AESP program offerings such as podcasts, webinars, publications, scholarships and other member education and support programs.
  • Develop and execute vendor, exhibitor, donor, and sponsor contracts.
  • Maintain business development pipeline related to sponsorships and exhibitors.


Securing Grant and Foundation Funding

  • Work with AESP’s leadership team to cultivate new potential funding opportunities or define new member benefits.
  • Seek out funding opportunities for AESP that align with its mission, vision, and values.
  • Develop effective funding outreach strategies and build and maintain relationships with key funding partners and stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement plans to achieve annual fundraising goals, including defining appropriate funding resources and opportunity targets and maintain ongoing fundraising pipeline.
  • Effectively communicate AESP’s strategic vision, mission, operational goals, and organizational values to current and prospective donors.
  • Lead grant and proposal writing efforts for the organization and support fulfillment of grant and contract reporting requirements, ensuring materials are prepared, reviewed, and submitted on schedule.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment between funding activities and execution of organizational goals.

  • Ability to effectively communicate the value and mission of AESP to prospective funders and key industry stakeholders.
  • Strong record of accomplishment in securing nonprofit funding and cultivating relationships with donors.
  • A strong interest in supporting the mission and work of AESP and a passion for conservation and sustainability are desired.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan and prioritize workload in a transparent and efficient manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including grant and proposal writing.
  • Proficiency working in customer relationship management (CRM) database systems such as an association management system (AMS).
  • Experience working in Microsoft 365 Office, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Strong expertise in fundraising, lead management and grant management software tools.
  • Proven experience in business development, fundraising or sales.
  • Demonstrated capability to work independently in a remote office environment to achieve organizational and individual goals, including a strong commitment to proactive follow-through and timely task completion.
  • Is comfortable working collaboratively as part of a team and can pivot effectively to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in sales, marketing, nonprofit management, business administration a related field OR
  • A combination of at least four years of equivalent work and related education experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Professional certification in fundraising and/or nonprofit management desired

SALARY RANGE (Based on Experience and Qualifications)

$63,750 to $86,250 + commission paid quarterly.
