Summary


Maintain, develop, and grow Catalysts business, profitably. Align with marketing and technical colleagues on the key activities in the assigned accounts and opportunities, which will help the team successfully implement its regional and global execution strategy to achieve growth aspirations. Responsible for the customer interface, managing their expectations, and advocating internally as appropriate.


Responsibilities


  • Communicate within the Catalysts team the actions needed to implement the sales strategy and business plan for assigned accounts; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision, and values; motivate people to commit to these and to do extraordinary things to achieve business goals.
  • Responsible for meeting and exceeding revenue and margin targets for assigned customers and markets. This includes defending and growing existing business as well as identifying and developing new opportunities in addition to implementation of pricing strategies as well as negotiation and execution of complex, multi-year supply agreements.
  • Work as the customer champion, collaborating internally as part of cross-functional teams to satisfy customer needs while building stronger relationships.
  • Develop and implement a relationship management plan for potential customer accounts to identify and build relationships with relevant decision makers and influencers within the customer organization and to enable effective two-way flow of information and resolution of issues.
  • Enter customer information that has been gathered through research and/or through direct customer contact into the customer relationship management systems, to ensure that the organization has quality data to enable business development activities.
  • Develop a personal network within the catalysis business sector and represent the organization at conferences and trade shows where the incumbent will obtain market intelligence and enhance the visibility and reputation of the organization, its products, and its services.
  • Use personal expertise to identify the complex products and/or services offered by the Catalysts business, and other Evonik businesses, that meet the customer's needs. Present these to the customer with a clear rationale for the commercial terms.


Requirements


  • BS degree or higher in Chemistry or related technical field is preferred.
  • 5+ years chemicals industry experience required, preferably in catalysis, sales and in a multi-national environment.
  • Up to 40% overnight travel, some may be international
  • Experience managing projects and teams (sometimes without direct reports) to achieve specific end results within limited timeframes.
  • Knowledge of precious metals is a plus
  • Uses comprehensive knowledge and skills to work independently while providing guidance and training to others on planning, organizing, prioritizing, and overseeing activities to efficiently meet business objectives.


$92,300 - $185,500 per year (Salary to be determined by geographic location, education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data).
