Outpatient Coder - Remote | Wfh

Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and up-to-date coding of all professional services, focusing on outpatient Evaluation & Management (E/M) and clinic-based procedures.
Code various clinic-based services, laboratory tests, nursing home visits, and physical therapy sessions within the outpatient setting.
Collaborate with providers to address coding concerns, missing/incomplete documentation, and stay updated on coding policy changes.
Verify charges and ensure correct code assignments on all outpatient accounts through assigned work queues.
Apply appropriate modifiers to CPT codes, ensuring accurate billing and compliance with guidelines.
Handle assigned coding denial work queues promptly and efficiently.
Requirements
Completion of an AAPC or AHIMA approved Coding Certificate Program.
High school diploma or GED.
Minimum of two years of experience in physician practice coding in an outpatient clinic setting. Specific experience in Specialty Orthopedics coding is highly preferred.
At least one year of professional billing, claim denials, appeals, or revenue cycle work.
Expert knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and medical terminology.
Strong familiarity with coding/billing guidelines and compliance regulations of Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial payers, including medical policy restrictions.
Experience with coding in a Provider-Based setting is a plus.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and research skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
Proficient in using software applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Ability to prioritize assignments effectively and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently in a remote setting and collaboratively as part of a team.
EPIC Experience Preferred.

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) – AAPC
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) – AHIMA
Certified Coding Associate (CCA) - AHIMA
