The Operations Director will oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization, ensuring that it runs efficiently and effectively. S/he will coordinate communication and information flow among and between key stakeholders, board members, executive management, staff, etc. This is a senior position and reports directly to the Chairman of the Board. This is the first hire of a non-profit start-up with significant investment and support from an active, founding board.
Responsibilities of the Operations Director
● Develop and implement operational procedures and systems
● Manage budgets and financial reports, under the advisement and mentorship of the Board Chair and Treasurer
● Support the Board of Directors, managing communications, scheduling and meeting logistics
● Identify office space options and manage build-out
● Maintain office space and arrange necessary repairs
● Coordinate with service providers in human resources, finance and IT
● Develop administrative policies and procedures
● Manage human resources and payroll
● Review and process invoices for payment
● Manage contracts with vendors, service providers and office lease
● Implement and manage employee onboarding and onboarding process
● Edit, format, and design marketing materials
● Handle logistics of all meetings and events to include venue selection, menu planning, registrations, and volunteers
● Develop and adhere to meeting and event budgets
● Grant management
Requirements:
● Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
● Five+ years of relevant experience required.
● Flexibility to adjust to new strategies, procedures, and tasks as the organization evolves
● Ability to multitask to complete a wide variety of tasks and projects
● Excellent management skills and ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
● Attention to detail to ensure tasks are completed thoroughly and correctly
● Collaborative problem solving by seeking input and ideas from others
● Strong written and verbal communication skills
● Self-starter
● Ability to function with and without close supervision
● Strong interpersonal skills
