Job Description

In alignment with the company’s strategic vision, the person in this role will have the opportunity to build out the Operations Department (systems and personnel) and will initially provide daily hands-on execution and management of projects in the field. This position requires someone who can handle the day-to-day execution, direction, and management, but also has the vision necessary to ensure that the company has the appropriate operational controls, people, procedures, and equipment in place to effectively meet company, customer, and project requirements. This position is based out of our Port Washington, NY location but may be eligible for remote work. Requires regular visits to job sites in the field.

Job Details


Responsibilities


In this position, you will be the person who ensures that the Operations Team is managed and performing efficiently and effectively and that an outstanding level of customer service is maintained. The Director of Operations is responsible for leading planning, scheduling, budgeting, purchasing, and putting efficient workflows in place to maximize the company’s productivity and performance and will work closely with senior management to meet company objectives. Ultimately, the Director of Operations is responsible for overall operational performance and quality outcomes, including customer satisfaction.


  • Lead coordination and integration of efforts among operations, engineering, technology, and customer service divisions to produce smoother workflow and more cost-effective business processes
  • Draw on relationships with department heads, external partners, and vendors to make decisions regarding operational activity and strategic goals
  • Evaluate overall performance by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data and metrics
  • Work with project managers in the development of financial and budgetary plans
  • Establish quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the company's efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identify opportunities for improvement
  • Set strategic goals for operational efficiency and increased productivity
  • Communicate and explain new directives, policies, or procedures to managers; for major changes, meet with entire operations staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale
  • Maximize efficiency and productivity through extensive process analysis and interdepartmental collaboration
  • Ensure that VIRSIG’s “Why” and core values are guiding principles in all daily activities
  • Supervise teams to assure timely completion of work and adherence to policies and procedures, identifying all necessary resources required and identifying potential barriers
  • Plan, direct, control, implement, evaluate, monitor, and forecast budgets and cost of products and labor to achieve financial objectives
  • Develop, implement, and monitor daily operational systems and processes to provide visibility into the goals, progress, and obstacles of key initiatives
  • Review project and department specific financial information and adjust operational budgets to promote profitability
  • Collaborate with senior managers in the development of performance goals and long-term operational plans
  • Plan, monitor, and analyze key metrics for daily operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks
  • Implement policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations
  • Provide oversight, guidance and completion of all location complaints and investigations related to staff and clients regarding operational procedures
  • Manage procurement processes and coordinate material and resources allocation


Qualifications & Experience


  • Ten or more years in a senior leadership role in electronic security and/or life safety industry
  • Superior knowledge of multiple functions and principles, including operations, finance, customer service, and employee management
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business administration or related field
  • Proficient in MS Office; ConnectWise experience preferred
  • Experience in developing budgets and business plans
  • Ability to streamline or implement structures and roles that boost speed and efficiency while supporting rapidly shifting business demands
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills, backed by previous professional success
  • Strong working knowledge of industry regulations and legal guidelines
  • Superior negotiation skills for both internal and external purposes
  • Proven ability to plan and manage operational processes for maximum efficiency and productivity
  • Strong working knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics, using business management software


Schedule


  • Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm
  • Some work-related travel may be required.
  • Ability to support on-call team 24/7 when and as required
  • This is primarily an office-based position with regular visits to work sites in the field; remote eligible
