Our Aerospace client is looking for an experienced Director of Operations to play a pivotal role in planning, organizing, and controlling production operations. This position requires a deep understanding of design and manufacturing engineering principles to solve complex operational challenges.
The Director of Operations is responsible for ensuring the efficient production output of all OEMs and MRO products and services provided by our client. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Director of Operations will have 2-3 direct reports and approximately 90 indirect reports. This role is a key member of our clients succession plan, with the potential for promotion to VP of Operations within 2 years.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing operations and engineering within the aerospace and defense industry.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, or systems theory and design.
- Demonstrated expertise in cost management across functional areas such as assembly, manufacturing engineering, and materials.
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong consulting and coaching skills, with the ability to effectively advise and support management and employees in various business areas. You excel in active listening and possess the talent to present complex ideas with clarity and simplicity.
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline, preferably Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 5% of the time.
Desirable:
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Five years of previous experience as a Manufacturing or Industrial Engineer in a highly regulated manufacturing business with a high mix, low volume production model.
- Technical mastery of continuous improvement tools and methodologies.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (preferably with Infor) and/or other financial and operational software systems.
- Master's degree in Engineering, Management, or Business Administration.
- Minimum of five or more years of experience in either a high volume/low mix or low volume/high mix production environment.
