Account Manager-New Business Development
Department: Sales
Location: Home office
Summary:
The Account Manager is responsible for selling and supporting a number of end-use customers by evaluating and implementing appropriate sales techniques to maintain and increase sales of Commodity Ingredients, Flavors, and Solutions. Develops and maintains a long-term partnership with customers by employing a consultative sales approach and by leveraging technical expertise on the products within Prinova’s offering.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Consultative Sales Approach
- Travels to and attends trade shows and other industry events.
- Builds profitable sales by employing a consultative sales approach and needs-based selling
- Develops and performs according to sales forecast and budget
- Displays/demonstrates products, using samples, sell sheets, and market experts within Prinova
- Maintains up-to-date call reports and product usage information in CRM
- Builds and sustains long-term customer relationships
- Directly manages territory and accounts by traveling throughout assigned territory to call on existing and prospective customers
- Coordinates and follows up on customer sample
- Quotes prices, credit terms and prepares sales contracts per customer requests
Leverage technical expertise
- Identifies new opportunities to add value by monitoring industry changes, trends and customer needs
- Assists customers by sharing technical expertise on product usage, product application and product formulation
- Helps provide solutions to customer problems
Strategize
- Helps develop sales and marketing strategies designed to meet or exceed sales budgets
- Works with Prinova’s Product Managers and Business Managers to execute sales and account plans and uses them as a resource to serve end use customers
- Other duties as deemed necessary by the VP Sales & Commercial Management
- Develop and maintain effective sales forecasting and planning through Sales and Account Plans
- Executes strategies to address competitive situations
- Prepares detailed sales and account plans for territory and individual accounts
Decision-Making Authority
- Quote prices within established guidelines from Product Management group
Education and experience required
- Minimum 3-5 year’s sales experience in the food, beverage, nutritional or sports nutrition industry selling B2B
- College graduate preferred
Qualifications/Skills:
- Must be self-motivated with an entrepreneurial spirit.
- Must have proven sales aptitude with professional demeanor and great people skills.
- Proven attention to detail, able to multi-task with great organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and listening
- Consultative and need-based selling skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)CRM experience preferred
- Home based
- 50% - 75% face-to-face travel
