The Business Development Manager is responsible for growing the Pelemix (Cannamix) business and Sun Gro share in the decriminalized Cannabis Market. Will be responsible for developing/implementing marketing, product development, and growth strategy for both existing and new Pelemix/Sun Gro coco coir products within the respective target markets and segments.

- Work closely with the Credit/Collections department to ensure that customers stay within approved credit limits and remain current.
- Develop/implement marketing and growth strategy for both existing and new Pelemix coco coir products within the respective target markets and segments.
- Oversee strategy for the retail rollout of Cannamix MJOT and Sun Gro Cannabis-related product lines within cannabis and hydro sectors.
- Significantly increase both top and bottom lines through successful management of the coco coir product lines and division.
- Continue development and expansion of Cannamix brand and product line through direct commercial sales efforts and programs, working closely with and leveraging the Sun Gro Sales Team.
- Leverage experience and resources to elevate Pelemix and subsequently Sun Gro team performance through strong leadership, work ethic and unified strategic direction. Collaborate (meetings, reporting, etc.) with broader organizations to accomplish this.
- Oversee roll out and integration of all Pelemix coco coir product line within Sun Gro regions and divisions (ex. getting more products for the existing teams to sell).
- Responsible for the profitability of the Pelemix Brand (The brand P&L), USA within Sun Gro.
- Develop Strategy and product lines utilizing existing Sun Gro resources for new co-branded product lines (ex. bagged coco-coir mixes leveraging coco as the primary ingredient).
- Oversee strategy, development, and implementation of Pelemix manufactured products to leverage and build on existing Sun Gro markets (ex. consumer or hobby grower grow bags).
- Change Champion – able to communicate changes, remove obstacles and understand who needs to be involved in driving changes.
- Strong Business Process Orientation ensuring strategic process alignment across functions consistent with corporate strategies and goals
- Knowledge of the Cannabis industry is strongly preferred.
- Proven record of achievement in horticulture or other sales-related activities.
- Professional knowledge and skills required and an appropriate comprehensive technical industry background.
- Expertise in the product or market including specific technical or horticulture/agriculture/cannabis industry knowledge.
- Strong execution skills – can provide support without removing responsibility, monitors progress to ensure achievement of goals, and coordinate with other work groups.
- Adequate management & sales experience to perform all the necessary sales functions required.
- Computer skills a must, specific proficiency in CRM (Salesforce), Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet, and email.
- Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of management experience or educational background in horticulture or equivalent experience gained through employment in a horticultural or similar related job.
- Excellent communicator at all levels within the Organization.
- This position requires travel to customers and non-customers sites in US & Canada.
- Home office, production plants, and customer sites as needed.
