We’re looking for a Sr Export Development Manager to join our team!

The Sr Export Development Manager will oversee the development and administration of the export business strategy for Animal Supply Company (ASC). The role will focus on enhancing ASC’s overall objectives of increased profitability, growth, and enhanced customer experience by identifying export business opportunities, expanding the customer base, and increasing export sales. The Sr Export Development Manager will also play a vital role in ASC’s inventory optimization opportunities.

  • Gather and analyze market intelligence, customer feedback, and competitive insights to inform strategic decision-making and growth opportunities.
  • Monitor sales performance, analyze trends, and implement strategies to maximize sales opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with international distributors, agents, and key customers.
  • Analyze market trends, competition, and customer needs to identify market opportunities and develop market entry strategies.
  • Conduct sales presentations and negotiations with prospective customers.
  • Relationship Management:
  • Performance Analysis and Reporting:
  • Export Sales Business Development:
  • Provide management with reports and recommendations based on sales analytics.
  • Develop and implement market entry strategies for new export markets, including identifying distribution channels, agents, and strategic partnerships.
  • Export Compliance and Documentation:
  • Ensure compliance with export documentation, including customs documentation, certificates of origin, and shipping documents.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with distributors, agents, and key stakeholders in target markets.
  • Identify new markets, customers, and business opportunities through market research, lead generation, prospecting, relationship building, and analysis.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, such as operations and finance, to ensure timely and accurate export documentation and shipment.
  • Develop and execute strategies to drive export sales growth, expand market presence, and achieve revenue targets.
  • Generate regular reports on sales performance, inventory levels, and KPIs.
  • Develop pricing strategies and negotiate contracts and agreements with international customers.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with key international customers, partners, and industry associations.
  • Market Entry and Expansion:
  • Coordinate and support the sales team in international markets to ensure effective sales processes and customer and vendor satisfaction.
  • Conduct data analysis to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Market Intelligence and Strategy:
  • Provide input and recommendations on pricing, positioning, and marketing strategies for international markets.
  • Monitor changes in international trade policies, regulations, and tariffs that may impact export activities.
  • Conduct research to identify potential export markets and assess their attractiveness and feasibility.
  • Ensure compliance with export regulations, trade laws, and export control requirements.
  • Track and analyze export sales performance, market share, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Provide insights and recommendations to management based on data analysis to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as marketing, product development, and operations, to support export activities.
  • Represent the company at international trade shows, exhibitions, and industry events.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations on export sales results, market trends, and opportunities for management review.

  • Adaptability and Global Mindset: Flexibility to adapt to changing market conditions, regulations, and customer preferences. Openness to diverse cultural perspectives and ability to navigate global business environments. Resilience and ability to handle challenges and uncertainty in international markets.   • Communication and Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate and present ideas to diverse audiences. Skill in preparing compelling sales proposals, presentations, and marketing materials.
  • Analytical and Financial Acumen: Strong analytical skills to evaluate sales performance, market trends, and competitive landscape. Understanding of financial metrics, pricing strategies, and profitability analysis. Ability to analyze and interpret sales data to identify areas for improvement. Skill in forecasting, budgeting, and managing financial aspects of export sales.
  • International Trade and Export Regulations: Comprehensive knowledge of international trade regulations and export compliance. Understanding of customs requirements, documentation, and shipping processes. Familiarity with export control laws, licensing, and trade restrictions. Ability to navigate complex international trade landscapes.
  • Strategic Thinking and Planning: Strong strategic thinking abilities to develop market entry and expansion strategies. Skill in setting achievable export sales targets and creating action plans. Ability to align export sales goals with overall business objectives. Proficiency in analyzing market data and making data-driven decisions.

Your education & experience should be similar to:

  • 7+ years of sales experience, preferably in an export sales-type role with industry knowledge.
  • Experience in managing export sales teams and leading strategic initiatives is preferred.
  • Experience in conducting market research, identifying opportunities, and developing strategies.
  • Bachelor's degree in International Business, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. Relevant work experience and demonstrated skills may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong knowledge of international market dynamics and export compliance is necessary.
  • Advanced Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and Excel to create visually appealing, engaging, and professional presentations with industry trends and data.

Working conditions:

The estimated annualized base salary range for the Sr Export Development Manager is $95,000-115,000 with bonus potential. Animal Supply Company (ASC) compensation is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to role, level, and location. In addition, ASC’s pay can vary based on knowledge, skills, and experience for each candidate for the posted position. Included in ASC’s total compensation are benefits such as medical, dental, and retirement.
