Job Description
Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring a Senior Manager to join our People Relations team.
About The Role
The People Relations team is responsible for supporting colleagues through crisis, providing guidance to leaders when working on performance issues with employees, and overseeing workplace investigations.
As Senior Manager, People Relations, you play a critical role in fostering a positive work environment by managing workplace investigations, overseeing corrective actions and performance improvement plans, and leading a team of dedicated employees. Your expertise in employee relations, conflict resolution and compliance will be essential in ensuring a fair and respectful workplace for all employees.
You will report into the Director, HR & Risk Mitigation.
This is a work-from-home/remote role. You must reside in one of the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, or Washington, D.C. Note, this list of states is subject to change.
The base pay for this role in the states of California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Washington is: $132,000 - $173,250 per year. The base pay for this role in all other locations is: $118,800 - $155,925 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar’s unlimited vacation program and annual performance bonuses.
Responsibilities
  • Establish a data reporting cadence/data governance and identify ad hoc reporting trends tied to problematic areas of business to ensure timely leadership engagement.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to retrieve feedback and modify training, iterate on tools, and create new processes where needed.
  • Act as a player coaching - sharing the investigation lift with the team - Conducting thorough and impartial investigations into employee complaints, including harassment, discrimination, misconduct, and other alleged policy violations.
  • Acts as a key player to establishing and iterating on Oscar's automated CAP/PIP process.
  • Demonstrate integrity, fairness, and professionalism in all business dealings and be a trusted advisor to leaders and colleagues on workplace concerns and handle highly confidential matters in partnership with counsel.
  • Evaluate and improve processes impacting the team and / or business to create efficiencies and strengthen the team brand.
  • Proactively anticipates change, providing critical and timely input about consequences and implications of local/federal law and best practices to all internal stakeholders.
  • Define and drive the People Relations roadmap and that supports HR’s broader strategic goalsEstablish key performance indicators and set clear expectations for the team, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Develop and oversee employee relations case audit process ensuring quality care is deployed to company employees.
  • Ensure clear expectations and measurable goals are established in Performance Improvement Plans.
  • Lead and manage a team of seasoned Employee Relations Professionals, providing guidance, support, and coaching.
  • Oversees and manages all employee relations activities within Oscar including Corrective Actions, Performance Improvement Plans, and Workplace Investigations ensuring that they are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and company policies.
  • Implement strategies to proactively address and mitigate potential employee relations issues, fostering a positive work environment.
Qualifications
  • Prior history of effectively leading investigations and employee relations teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in respectful debate, with a goal of propelling overall work product.
  • Proven ability to manage varying volume of cases, and prioritize these matters by content.
  • Deep understanding of investigation principals, including the use of credibility analysis to draw conclusions on challenging cases.
  • Experience pivoting priorities with short notice and managing multiple risk related situations at one time
  • Proven experience of a minimum of 6+ years handling Workplace Investigations full time.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required, a relevant master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience handling executive escalations, and overseeing multiple parties dedicated to performance management, and / or investigations.
  • Candidates must be a certificate holder through the Association of Workplace Investigators.
Bonus Points
  • Experience in a healthcare or Technology organization.
  • Certification in crisis management, risk mitigation, conflict resolution, or leadership coaching.
  • Proven ability to take and deliver important feedback, and provide immediate resolution.

Pay Transparency
Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education, and experience.
Full-time employees are eligible for benefits including: medical, dental, and vision benefits, 11 paid holidays, paid sick time, paid parental leave, 401(k) plan participation, life and disability insurance, and paid wellness time and reimbursements.
