Responsibilities
Thoroughly review and analyze medical records to accurately assign ICD-10 codes for diagnoses and procedures.
Ensure the precise and timely submission of medical claims to insurance companies, optimizing reimbursement opportunities.
Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility to facilitate seamless billing processes.
Proactively follow up on unpaid or denied claims, adeptly resolving any billing discrepancies.
Collaborate closely with healthcare providers to obtain essential documentation necessary for accurate billing.
Stay abreast of evolving coding guidelines and regulations to maintain compliance and quality in coding practices.
Uphold the highest levels of confidentiality when handling sensitive patient information.
Qualifications
A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in the field of medical billing and coding.
Proficiency in the ICD-10 coding system, showcasing your adeptness in accurate code assignment.
Familiarity with ICD-9 and DRG coding systems is a valued asset.
Sound knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, enhancing your coding precision.
Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring meticulousness in all coding and billing procedures.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling effective interaction with team members and stakeholders.
A strong team player with the ability to work independently when needed.
Proficiency in utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems and various billing software platforms.
