Creative Writing Instructor - Remote | Wfh

Position Overview
You will have the opportunity to inspire and guide adult learners in various forms, genres, styles, and levels of creative writing. While we accept applications throughout the year to accommodate immediate program needs and enhance our instructor pool, we will conduct interviews with qualified candidates who can fulfill anticipated openings.
Preferred Areas Of Expertise
We are particularly interested in individuals with expertise in Fiction, Creative Nonfiction, and writing for Young Readers (Picture Book through YA). Although our need for Poetry instructors is typically limited, we encourage applications from passionate instructors in this discipline as well.
Responsibilities
Utilize your subject-matter expertise to impart knowledge to students, while leveraging additional resources to enhance the curriculum (e.g., guest speakers).
Design interactive and motivating classroom activities to fully engage participants and reinforce student learning.
Implement inclusive teaching strategies that promote equity in learning outcomes and engage learners from diverse backgrounds, identities, abilities, and experience levels.
Regularly update course materials and monitor evaluations to make necessary adjustments and improvements to the curriculum.
Utilize our online platforms, such as Canvas, for course support and distribution of materials, assignments, and feedback.
Provide timely responses to student inquiries and learning needs, fostering a supportive learning environment.
Complete administrative tasks promptly, including new hire paperwork, quarterly syllabus updates.
Participate in required orientations, instructor training programs, and occasional program activities such as competition/scholarship judging, guest lecturing, and community events.
Employ culturally competent teaching methodologies that address the needs of both domestic and international student populations.
Stay up-to-date with the evolving landscape of the Creative Writing field, sharing your knowledge with students.
Maintain accurate records of student grades for up to 13 months following the last class session.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should meet the following qualifications:
A preference for individuals with a single-author book publication credit; significant publication record in periodicals or literary magazines will also be considered.
Strong commitment to academic standards and integrity.
Current knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in the subject area.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas and information effectively.
Outstanding interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence.
Proficiency in instructional technology and willingness to learn online teaching tools.
Ability to utilize established online portals (Canvas, Zoom, etc.) for tasks and activities.
College-level And/or Continuing Education Teaching Experience (preferred).
Experience in curriculum design and measuring student performance (preferred).
