The Associate Director of Channel Strategy is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Company’s product distribution strategy and ensuring its efficient operations. This individual will oversee access of products and management of services from the point of 3PL provider through the wholesaler, pharmacy, and hospital channels. The responsibilities include account management, continuous assessment of market trends and patient needs, and identifying opportunities to improve the channel strategy for each product.


Summary Of Key Responsibilities


  • Proactively shares key market trends/observations, best practices, and customer learnings with internal teams to support the development and/or refinement of strategies and tactics.
  • Supports Director of Market Access with select PBM/Payer strategies and initiatives including but not limited to clinical, contractual and policy negotiations.
  • Coordinates with Field Access, Sales, Marketing, and Commercial Operations teams to ensure team members understand the Company’s distribution model: Support and field questions or issues that arise and provide expediated solutions; Create all field collateral needed to support channel access in collaboration with Materials Review Committee.
  • Ensures data integrity and adequate data flows between the Company and its trade partners. Ensures data feeds from trade customers allow for real-time analysis of ex-factory and ex-distributor sales and prescription tracking. Creates and manages to core KPIs and provides consistent transparency and communication with senior leadership.
  • Establishes and evolves monitoring and auditing strategies in partnership with Compliance department to support the Company’s Ethics and Compliance program.
  • Manages all aspects of wholesale, specialty distributor, GPO and pharmacy channel account management in compliance with federal and state laws, regulations and Company policies.
  • Provides subject matter expertise including specialty distributor, 3PL, GPO, specialty pharmacy network selection, program optimization, SOP creation, RFP recommendations, etc.
  • Conducts ongoing business reviews, establishes metrics, monitors day-to-day operations and identifies continuous improvements in alignment with industry changes and competitive benchmarks across all trade channels.
  • Works with the appropriate departments to develop standardized reporting dashboards to measure performance and enable monitoring and auditing across all trade channels.
  • Manages designated external vendors and ensures accurate and timely delivery on all projects.
  • Builds and drives strategic/tactical recommendations as it relates to distribution through our trade partners (3PL, SPD, SPP, GPO) - Responsible for pre-commercial research and preparation to determine the most appropriate and effective channel strategy for all pipeline and acquired products. This includes 3PL, Wholesaler (Specialty) SP Network and GPO.
  • Develops strong relationships with channel partners (e.g,. distributors, GPOs, specialty pharmacies).
  • Closely collaborates with Supply Chain and Finance regarding inventory management - assess credit limits, returns, sales trends, channel inventory, and novel distribution/dispensing models, taking into account the organizational goals and needs.
  • Negotiates and manages contracts and amendments in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Works closely with Medical, Marketing, Commercial Operations, Field Sales, Legal and Compliance departments on alignment of the clinical and commercial strategy for each product to support development of appropriate customer strategies and engagement activities.
  • Develops and executes dispensing and distribution strategies spanning wholesalers, specialty distributors, specialty pharmacies, retail pharmacies, GPOs, and other trade channel outlets.


Required Qualifications And Skills


  • Ability to manage assigned accounts from negotiation phase through critical execution phase; must be able to coordinate and plan account meetings with face-to-face dialogue.
  • SMART execution: strategic, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-sensitive; all applying to assigned Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)/Management By Objectives (MBOs); must be able to see operational trends and activities and relate their impact to the Company’s corporate strategies.
  • Strong regional and national leadership; takes ownership in work streams and exercises influence in the decision-making process among diverse functional and geographical areas and at all levels of management; able to customize to market needs.
  • Business acumen of Company P&L, gross-to-net, and overall financial implications of business functions, including, without limitation, expenses and contracts.
  • Proficient computer skills: MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and efficient with cell technology for business insights and communication. Is an expert with Veloxis’s Market Access vendor tools.
  • BS / BA in business, marketing, or other related discipline.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated product launch success including products covered as a medical benefit (“part B”).
  • 8-10 years’ experience in Pharmaceutical Trade, Specialty Distribution, Market Access Management or related discipline.


Travel Requirements: Approximately 50%
