About The Life You Can Save:

TLYCS is a nonprofit organization founded in 2009 by the renowned philosopher and author Peter Singer in order to advance the ideas in his book, The Life You Can Save. The mission of TLYCS is to improve the lives of people living in poverty by changing the ways in which people think about and then give to help others. The organization works to encourage individuals, businesses and organizations to maximize their impact by contributing to TLYCS’s recommended effective charities. TLYCS has a dispersed workforce spread across the globe.

Our Dream Hire

Our organization is primed to scale up, and we need someone from the business or nonprofit world with demonstrated ability to take a small, organically-growing organization to optimal scale. The ideal candidate is a leader with a passion for eradicating global poverty, ambition to create large-scale impact, and demonstrated ability in the areas of marketing, advocacy and fundraising, particularly with high-net worth donors and leadership experience in a fast-growth entrepreneurial organization.

What Success Looks Like

Strategy:

• Lead long-term planning and budgeting with senior leadership and the Board, and work to track progress against metrics for measurable results.
• Grow revenue for our recommended nonprofits and TLYCS itself from ~ $20 million USD by a minimum of 10x in five years, and increase our user base by a similar amount.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to significantly scale up the money moved by the organization to effective nonprofits, and increase the donor base, while ensuring continued success of TLYCS operations through core funding.
• Grow unaided brand recognition ~10x within five years .

Innovation:

• Launch new high-impact initiatives to catalyze giving to effective nonprofits.

Organizational culture:

• Act as a player/coach within the marketing and fundraising functions.
• Continue to develop a culture where the entire team can grow professionally and increase their individual impact.

Influence:

• Grow the organization’s position as a thought and action leader in the worlds of high impact giving and poverty eradication.
• Promote the organization at key events and in the media.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Knowledge of global health and development or related fields.
• Strong strategic planning skills.
• Significant experience preferably with significant experience in a leadership role at a fast-growing organization.
• Demonstrated experience in leading high-performing staff and teams.
• Willingness to travel frequently.
• Demonstrated experience in raising funds from varied sources including foundations, individuals et al.
