The District Manager is responsible for providing leadership and guidance for an assigned group of stores. The position will provide direction to their assigned retail stores and the associates within the district. The DM is expected to hold stores accountable for the achievement of AOP (profit, sales, units, gross margin, car count, productivity) and establish action plans when goals are not met. The DM is responsible for ensuring outstanding customer satisfaction, good clean stores and a serious commitment to hiring, training, developing, promoting and coaching associates within the district.
Operational Leadership - drive results through the guidance and leadership of district to achieve or exceed AOP. Monitor and measure execution of key processes identified by Akron leadership team. Provide direction to ensure that liability, safety, customer satisfaction, audits, housekeeping and inventory are improved upon and managed within guidelines.
Associate Management - be in a constant recruiting mode to identify talent that can be hired into the district. Hire a diverse workforce. Support college recruiting efforts within the district. Utilize the performance management process to provide candid feedback to associates and coach them for improvement. Ensure that the on boarding process is implemented for all new associates. Complete the Succession Planning process for assigned stores and utilize the results to focus on high performers and manage non performers out of the company. Manages staffing in accordance with AOP and trends. Constantly recruiting to build a network for bench strength.
Associate Development - Provide training support and leadership for positions within the district. Trains and educates associates on AOP approach, assuring that Company objectives are understood so that annual goals can be achieved. Ensure Telephone Techniques are being utilized and that compliance, career development and technical training is identified for each associate and completed. Prepare for growth by developing the skills of direct reports.
Communication - Translate, communicate and drive organizational, regional and district messages to ensure execution at store level. Act as a liaison between stores and Retail Management on areas such as Human Resources, Advertising, Marketing, Operations, Real Estate and Finance and market activities. Monitors and reports market intelligence which impacts business and pricing within the market.
Conduct regular visits to each assigned store and complete the store check sheet and housekeeping report at least twice a year. During visits, review, analyze and communicate store financial and operational performance. Ultimately responsible to ensure stores achieve a passing score on all internal audits. Maintains OSHA/safety reporting as required by federal/state regulation. Ensures state & federal employment posters and Worker's Compensation poster are posted. Create Action Plans to address operational, development and compliance issues
Experience
- 1 year sales experience in the tire industry.
- Managed 2 or more business units with P&L or budget responsibility (retail store, CTSC, manufacturing business center or wholesale tire center).
- Past experience of managing other people.
- Past experience using team - based managing & Total Quality Culture (TQC) skills. Recruiting, hiring & training experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to organize/prioritize multi-functions/tasks within time management; leadership & motivational skills that are result driven.
- Skilled/proficient in the areas of listening, verbal & written communication.
- Must have knowledge of coaching, counseling & discipline skills & recognize when to use each.
