Clinical Documentation Specialists - Remote | Wfh

Key Responsibilities
Collaborate extensively with physicians, nursing staff, and other caregivers to facilitate necessary medical record documentation.
Work closely with HIM coding staff to maximize reimbursement for the services provided to our valued patients.
Ensure clinical information accuracy and completeness, supporting physician and pay-for-performance quality outcomes.
Monitor clinical documentation patterns and trends, identifying opportunities for improvement in pay-for-performance measures.
Provide ongoing education to the patient care team regarding clinical documentation requirements, coding updates, reimbursement issues, and pay-for-performance documentation criteria.
Develop and deliver continuous Performance Documentation education for new staff, including case managers, coders, physicians, residents, nurses, and allied health professionals.
Compile, analyze, and evaluate quality and clinical data as part of our comprehensive clinical improvement and documentation program.
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing. Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Michigan.
Three years of well-rounded medical or surgical acute care nursing experience. Critical care nursing experience is a plus. Alternatively, an Associate's degree in applied sciences or related field with a healthcare emphasis (Bachelor's degree preferred).
Credentialing as a RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator), RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician), or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist), with three years of inpatient coding experience.
Preferred experience as a Clinical Documentation Specialist in an acute care hospital. Alternatively, a graduate from an accredited medical school, either foreign or domestic, with a CCDS (Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist) credential and a minimum of one year of Clinical Documentation Specialist experience in an acute care hospital.
