About the position:


Strategic Partnerships is a department within the Development team primarily responsible for stewarding Americares financial relationships with corporate, pharmaceutica l and public donors. This team has a revenue goal of approximately $20M annually, and additionally brings in over 400M in donated medicines and medical supplies.


The Strategic Partnerships Team is responsible for originating and stewarding Corporate and Foundation Partnerships in order to secure support for Americares ongoing international and domestic programs. The SP team is an integral part of the broader development division, and this position will be part of our efforts to broaden Americares base.


The Americares Strategic Partnerships group is a high-impact team responsible for Americares corporate foundation, public access to medicine, and cause marketing Partnerships to secure financial and gift-in-kind that support Americares global programs and mission impact investments. This position has a dual role.


  • T he A ssociate D irector is responsible for driving operational excellence across the Strategic Partnerships team (30%) .
  • The A s s ociate D irector ensures that communications with donors and prospects are complete, timely , educational, and valuable for advocacy and constituency building.
  • The Associate Director supports the strategy and drives resource acquisition across the Strategic Partnerships team and the entire Development Department to support the Americares revenue goals (70%) .
  • This includes originating, stewarding, and expanding a portfolio of partners and prospects across the community and private foundations, corporations and corporate foundations, relevant medical associations, local United Ways, local government, and local civic and religious groups.
  • Working with the Sr Director, Director Strategic Partnership s, and D irector S enior V ice P resident Strategic Partnership s , the A ssociate D irector participates in setting strategy for process improvements, data utilization , and moves management and is responsible for operationalizing strategic priorities and promoting adherence and uptake.
  • The A ssociate D irector will work cross-departmentally to ensure alignment with other areas.
  • The A ssociate D irector acts as an ambassador for S trategic Partnerships both internally and externally. (70%)
  • In addition, the A ssociate D irector supports the entire Enterprise Partnerships team and account leads with program expertise , strategic direction, and content development.


Key Outcomes:


In the first 90 day s , focus on aligning and securing renewals and upgrading long term partners .


  • Understanding of Development strategic plan and how SP fits within the organizational plan .
  • Work closely with managers and directors to ensure de tailed r eporting, donor management and donor engagement is tracked .
  • Develop deep understanding of portfolio, and alignment on funding opportunities and any growth accounts .
  • Work closely with Directors on revenue goals, department objectives , cases of support, sales materials, decks, and overall understand o f revenu e strategy .
  • Gain knowledge of database and CRM to ensure accuracies in donor data, and portfolio management .


In the first 6 month s, secure renewals and upgrading long term partners .


  • Works closely with S enio r Director and Director to develop revenue forecasts and projections and updates weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Schedules and attends donor meetings, including clinic tours and donor visits to headquarters and distribution center .
  • Serve as a relationship manager and fundraiser to ensure timely funding is secured, which includes proposal development and all related communications (letters of inquiry, cultivation reporting, updates, funding reports, etc.) .
  • Manage a portfolio of corporate donors, and work on new business development to attract new relationships .
  • Works with Marketing and Communication to prepare integrated ‘pitch’ pieces for SP team
  • Raise awareness of Americares programs and elicit support while uplifting the brand identity in diverse audiences .
  • Helps prepare revenue reports and donor communications for internal and external audiences .


In the First year the A ssociate D irector will:


  • Schedules and attends donor meetings, including clinic tours and donor visits to headquarters and distribution center .
  • Completely vetted, communicated, eng aged, and secure funding from portfolio, and created account plans for top accounts.
  • Works with Marketing and Communication to prepare integrated ‘pitch’ pieces for SP team .
  • Conducts prospect research .
  • Helps prepare revenue reports and donor communications for internal and external audiences .
  • Ensures that SP team standard operating procedures are updated and created as necessary .
  • Attends and represents Americares at various conferences, business events, and other external related opportunities .
  • Performs other tasks as may be requested by Americare s .
  • Have deeper understanding and al ignment with portfolio, and growth opportunities .
  • Attends all SP and Americares Foundation events which present development opportunities .


Duties and Responsibilities :


5-7 high level duties and responsibilities. This should not be an exhaustive list but an overview of key focus areas.


  • Works closely with Marketing and Communications to raise awareness of fundable programs (press releases on donations, donor-related events, etc.) and implement donor communications plans , additionally, coordinated communications and marketing teams to develop toolkits for consumer engagemen t .
  • Develop and implement ideas to generate new revenue; make presentations and lead meetings; develop compelling proposals and grant submissions, assure regular reporting in compliance with donor stipulations, cultivate manage and grow key relationships and serve as the primary interface for a portfolio of key accounts and prospects.
  • Meets targeted revenue goals and manages development calendar to meet budgeted goals effectively , while maintaining a n accur at e and complete record of donors, prospects, and related contacts in CRM .
  • Drives the development of revenue and performance dashboards to support management decision-making and resource allocation.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with internal (and external) decision makers who influence and impact corporate strategies and who can initiate new opportunities to deepen current Partnership s and expand Americares prospecting pipeline .
  • Raise awareness of Americares programs and elicit support while uplifting the brand identity in diverse audiences.
  • Win new business and upgrade existing business.
  • Originate and steward relationships with corporate partners working in Partnerships with global programs teams to identify programmatic opportunities that will open doors with prospects.

  • Ability to present a “case of support” and translate it into funding asks and requests .
  • Bachelors+ de gree with at least 5-7 years of related work experience (fundraising, sales , business development, sponsorship, commercial marketing) .
  • Account management experience, & securing funding from corporations and foundations .
  • Excellent interpersonal skills & partner facing communication experience .
  • Experience securing funds and managing relationships from Fortune 100-100 companies
  • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to represent Americares professionally .
  • A commitment to excellence and demonstrated attention to detail .
  • You have US work authorization (required)
  • Ability to travel 20%-25%.
  • You have language skills in at least one of our core languages , other than English : Spanish, Tagalog, Hindi, Kiswahili, Haitian Creole (this would be a plus, but is not a requirement) .
  • Experience in Healthcare is a must .
  • Strong computer skills - Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams , CRM .
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proposal development, prospecting, and high-level relationship management .
