Job Description
The Partnerships Director works across departments to implement and accelerate Galvanize USA and Galvanize Action’s impact. Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer the Partnerships Director will contribute to overarching strategic plans, as well as project manage their implementation. A strong candidate for this role will drive work that builds relationships across the progressive political landscape to promote messaging and content. They will have a keen understanding of how content gets disseminated across digital platforms as well as strong relationships throughout the progressive movement. Responsibilities include identifying, cultivating, and managing relationships with other progressive organizations; identifying opportunities for expansion, collaboration, and engagement with political partners; and supporting the development and execution of the Partnerships strategy.


The position is permanently remote with preference for someone residing in Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, or Ohio. Some travel (<25%) to events and partner organizations around the country will be required.
Responsibilities and Tasks
  • Assume primary responsibility for the cultivation and stewardship of strategic partnerships throughout key states—including but not limited to Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Ohio
  • Field incoming opportunities with organizations and individuals interested in Galvanize USA and Galvanize Action’s research and voter understanding
  • Manage a designated portfolio of key political partners and identify tailored opportunities for engagement
  • Identify areas to expand and deepen our political partnerships work; develop specific, measurable goals for those areas of work, and report out on metrics and progress
  • May manage others and lead work collaboratively to expand our collective impact through national and state partnerships
  • Develop an understanding of the changing political landscape and provide internal thought partnership and act in lockstep with the ED and COS to advance and accelerate priorities
  • Collaborate with the CSO to develop and execute plans for identifying, tracking, cultivating, and strengthening external relationships
  • Represent the organization with external partners and key stakeholders
  • Manage regular communications to key state and national partners that highlight our unique value add, provide messaging and voter understanding insights, and aim to lift all boats
  • Develop plans that are aligned with Communications, Research, and Development Team goals from across the organization
  • Performs other duties as needed

Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, And Ability
We are seeking candidates who are dynamic and strategic thinkers to manage our partnership building efforts in order to expand the scope and impact of our work. You should have:
  • Experience in working effectively with decision makers with a variety of personalities in a fast-paced, progressive environment
  • Strong public speaking abilities, and even stronger listening skills with the ability to translate ideas across audiences and modes of communication in an organized, thoughtful way
  • Work experience with campaigns and/or political organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects fluidly, prioritize, and track timelines, data, and information in an organized and systematic fashion
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a timely manner
  • Strong familiarity with progressive political actors and landscape
  • Minimum five years experience leading partnership strategies, designing impact programs, and/or campaign experience
  • Polished, professional, and effective presentation skills for all audiences and levels within and outside the organization
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills to collaborate well with partners, campaigns, coalitions, colleagues, and others under tight deadlines
  • A strong interest in politics and a commitment to advancing the principles and goals of Galvanize USA and Galvanize Action
  • Ability and flexibility to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in performing job duties
  • Ability to demonstrate multicultural competence - the awareness, knowledge and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant, and productive ways
Valued And Non-Essential Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, And Ability
  • Proficient in Google Suite
  • Experience capturing and keeping contact information clean and accurate in CRMs
  • Maintaining a sense of humor, especially during times of rapid response
  • Knowledge of electoral campaign strategy, metrics, and tactics both on the national and local level

Compensation & Benefits
The starting salary range for this position is $115,00 - $130,000, depending on experience. For those with more experience, the title may be adjusted to Senior Development Director. Galvanize USA also offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees and their families. Employees are able to enroll in a 401k retirement plan and are eligible for a 3% automatic contribution and up to a 3% employer match on 401k contributions. Employees are also eligible for pre-tax transportation benefits and can contribute pre-tax to dependent care and health Flexible Spending Accounts. Employees will receive 120 hours of vacation time, 80 hours of health leave, up to 2 days of casual leave, and 20 hours of volunteer leave annually. Employees will also receive 13 paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are eligible for 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave after 90 days of employment.
