Amity Foundation, an internationally acclaimed Teaching, and Therapeutic Community is seeking compassionate and enthusiastic individuals with a desire to teach, learn and join our community as a People Operations Director. This groundbreaking opportunity will allow you to work with our prison and re-entry programs helping the community and will also enhance your training and experience in the field.
- Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
- Collaborate with Talent Acquisition Manager to standardize the process for onboarding and new employee orientation.
- Maintain thorough and current knowledge of all People Operations policies, state and federal regulations, and laws.
- Ensure appropriate training programs are offered, deployed, & delivered for all employees and managers (i.e., sexual harassment prevention training and other compliance-related training programs).
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Monitor and analyze turnover statistics and other related metrics.
- Work with VP to assess talent, identify competency gaps, and the strategic movement of people.
- Develop and build strong business partnerships with all levels of management.
- Works with people operations team and risk management to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Manages the daily workflow of the department. Provide guidance to the People Operations team including resolving inquiries, concerns, escalated questions, or operational needs from the team.
- Participate in EEO, Unemployment, Wage & Hour, Worker’s Compensation, OSHA, ADA, Immigration and Naturalization Service hearings. Implement policies and programs to guarantee compliance.
- Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization's human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
- Assists the Business Partner and People Operations manager with complex employee relations issues. Ensures effective, thorough, and objective investigations. Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
- Communicate new policies, information, and directives to all employees.
- Provide compensation support including salary planning, approval of salary actions, promotions, and job re-leveling.
- Advise and trains managers and supervisors in best employee relations practices and strategies for managing supervisor problems and employee grievances. Develop and deliver training courses as needed.
- Provide support and guidance to People Operations HR faculty, management, and other faculty when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
- Skilled in communicating with diverse clients, both 1:1, in large groups, and at any level within the organization
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Demonstrated process capabilities and metrics-driven, able to manage complex projects across multiple partners.
- Demonstrated ability to understand complex business issues and develop HR initiatives/actions based on data and analytics to support business strategies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ten years of HR Management experience in California.
- Experience with HR legal issues and working with legal counsel.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and statutes which govern policies and practices of hiring, compensation and benefits, and general employment.
- Proven track record of successfully working at all levels of the organization, demonstrating influence and client consulting skills with employees, managers, and senior leadership.
- Excellent organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or business administration. Five (5) years of experience in a Human Resources management role in California. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR preferred.
- Strong functional HR knowledge: is well versed in fields of the HR function and stays current in emerging talent practices and developments.
