Step into a dynamic opportunity as the Director of People & Organization (P&O) at VCA Animal Hospitals. In this role you will be a strategic business partner to designated Senior Executives and their leadership teams and manage key recurring, annual Talent & Culture processes after the initial implementation stage. You will execute and evolve the execution of various P&O initiatives from center of excellence (COEs) and provide input to COEs on the design and development of projects and programs. As a business partner you are the liaison between COEs and business leaders, advocating for client groups’ needs and ensuring the successful implementation of P&O initiatives.
As many P&O programs are being implemented for the first time, as the Director you must thrive under highly ambiguous and fast-changing circumstances and be able to bring clarity and structure to all you do. This role requires an entrepreneurial mindset and ability to build from the ground up. As the Director you will also help ensure simplified communication, solid change management, and continuous improvement.
Role Responsibilities:
- Analyzes people metrics and trends to advise leaders on necessary action to drive continuous improvement. Shares observations and leader input with COEs to enhance associate and organizational effectiveness.
- Supports Sr. Director, P&O in managing annual execution of recurring Talent & Culture signature processes, i.e., performance management, associate engagement, etc., after initial implementation stage(s) completion.
- Consults with leaders regarding organizational design (i.e., right people in right places, right structure, etc., to deliver on organizational and associate effectiveness)
- Fulfills other related duties as assigned.
- Supports and guides business leaders on the execution of P&O initiatives/processes (e.g., performance management, talent and succession planning, engagement, etc.). Provides input to COEs that enables them to build a simple and effective implementation plans that support flawless execution.
- Represents the voice of the support office in P&O initiatives (Talent Management Programs, Leadership Development, Total Rewards, Culture, EVP, HRIS, etc.)
- Works with functional leaders to align organizational and P&O objectives in service of business and associate needs. Supports establishment of the long-term P&O vision and road map to deliver best in class outcomes for VCA Associates.
- Participates in Management Development Review (MDR) succession planning and executes change management for various initiatives across VCA. Supports Sr. Director, P&O in creating the vision and strategy for leadership development based on functional talent strategies.
Qualifications
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to influence without authority
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred
- Experience leading complex organizational design and development
- Ability to quickly build partnerships across multiple levels of the organization
- Ability to leverage knowledge in areas of talent management, talent acquisition, learning and development, associate engagement, total rewards, and organizational design and development
- Ability to plan and organize quickly with a combined focus on customer delivery and informing
- Experience partnering with and coaching C-Level Executives and their leadership teams. Business mindset, P&O understanding and understanding of business processes to influence business leaders to bring innovation and transformation to the functions this person will support
- Talent and Culture program implementation experience a plus
- Experience in start-up environments, building processes from scratch and comfortable dealing with ambiguity and constant change.
- Experience and expertise in change management, project management and continuous improvement with a strong focus on detail on follow through.
- 10+ years’ experience in HR Business Partner roles of increasing complexity and scope
- Experience in large, complex organizational structures during periods of transformation.
Additional Information:
Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $150,000 - $190,000 Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
