Faber-Castell USA is looking for a dynamic & inspiring People & Culture (HR) Generalist to join our growing organization. The People & Culture (HR) Generalist will run the daily administrative functions of the People & Culture (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.


You will work directly with and assist the Director of Human Resources to fulfill a variety of necessary HR tasks. This includes all onboarding/offboarding, tracking training & development, payroll administration, benefit enrollment process, and supporting the facilitation of engagement events and communications. You will also help maintain positive employee relations and work to ensure employee satisfaction by fostering a positive work environment aligned with the FCUSA values & culture. You should be highly organized, detail-oriented, and most importantly, personable, and approachable.


This unique opportunity is a hybrid position providing the flexibility of on-site and remote work.3 days per week on-site work is required.Faber-Castell USA prioritizes health & safety, providing a clean and safe work environment, ensuring proper safety protocols and guidelines are followed.

Requirements:

  • Performs tasks required to administer and execute People & Culture/HR programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; recognition and morale; document retention & compliance; and training and development.
  • Collaborate with the Director of HR to streamline, automate & digitize HR processes and procedures to create the highest level of efficiencies within the department, with the ultimate goal of becoming a “paperless” operation. This includes the creation of digital employer branding content and collateral.
  • Prepares payroll data and processes payroll bi-weekly within ADP Workforce Now platform. Reconciles pay data for general ledger.
  • Maintains knowledge of HR trends, best practices, new technologies & innovations in human resources management, best-of-class work environments & cultures, including modern practices in hybrid/remote work environments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Support special projects for the global Faber-Castell People & Culture strategy & objectives.
  • Assists in the facilitation of new hire onboarding & orientations and employee recognition programs.
  • Manage Intern programs, including attending in-person or digital career fairs for local colleges and universities.
  • Serve as the HR point of contact for staff for general questions and inquiries, including assisting with benefits, payroll, technical issues with HR portals or apps, personnel changes & updates, Paid Time Off, employment verifications, and other miscellaneous requests.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and management, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. Attends and participates in employee relations and disciplinary meetings and investigations. Properly documents and files all proceedings.
  • Authors company-wide job descriptions and scripts job-posting ads for open requisitions.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and stays up to date on any regulatory changes.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with Director of HR & departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. Maintains and updates applicant database and manages applicant tracking process as part of the recruitment process.
  • Acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications as part of the hiring process.
  • Performs frequent market data analysis related to compensation, wages, and benefits.
  • Assists HR Director in the execution of strategic HR initiatives such as Performance Management, Talent Management (including Succession Planning), Leadership and Teamwork development programs, structural reorganization, policy development, wellness & incentive programs, digital employer branding campaigns, and others.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Strong skills using Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge and experience utilizing MS Teams and high proficiency using features within MS Teams.Advanced MS Excel skills.Proficiency with MS Outlook (scheduling, maintaining calendars) and PowerPoint.
  • Minimum 5+ years Generalist experience and/or 5-10 years progressive HR experience.
  • Workplace discrimination laws (ADA, ADEA, EPA, PDA)
  • High proficiency with ADP Workforce Now payroll administration platform.
  • Wage & hours laws (FLSA, FMLA)
  • Trained in Federal & State employment laws and application of HR polices and compliance.
  • Employee benefit laws (ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPPA)
  • Federal & State tax laws for withholding, unemployment tax and Social Security and Medicare.

Preferred:

  • PHR or SHRM Certified highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Safety Laws (OSHA).
  • Strong skills using HR software and HRIS databases, including SAP.
  • Proven experience in successful automation/digitalization of HR processes & procedures a plus.
  • Experience in managing and maintaining HR related budgets including salaries & wages.
  • Savvy with MS PowerPoint and putting together dynamic presentation decks.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and facilitating small & large company meetings.
