Job Description

Location: Sheetz Corporate - Claysburg, PA


PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:
Provide direct HR support to assigned Corporate Managers/Supervisors and employees regarding all areas of Human Resources, including, but not limited to: a broad range of employee relations issues, performance, talent acquisition, leave administration, worker’s compensation, and policies. Provide guidance to managers and employees through interpreting policies and administering procedures in compliance with all federal, state and local laws and company policies. Supports Corporate HR Projects within assigned business units and provides training support to Corporate Departments while fostering a positive culture.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (other duties may be assigned)

  • Partner with assigned Corporate Managers and Supervisors regarding the resolution of a wide variety of Human Resources issues (including but not limited to: employee relations issues, performance, talent acquisition, leave administration and Worker’s Comp) and with a focus on compliance and consistency with Sheetz employment policies and federal, state and local laws. Provides resolution to Employee Relations issues in a manner consistent with and in support of the Sheetz culture.
  • Independently provides guidance, education and training to Corporate Managers regarding a broad range of human resources and employee relations issues on a daily basis while ensuring fairness and consistency.
  • Coordinate and conduct employee relations investigations in conjunction with Corporate Management, including approval and/or execution of disciplinary action up to and including termination in accordance with company policy. Escalates more complex or high profile issues to the Corporate HR Business Partner.
  • Maintains thorough and accurate documentation of human resources and employee relations issues in a case management system.
  • Respond to Employee Hotline Calls and Service Desk Calls in a timely manner in conjunction with Corporate Managers. The Corporate HR Generalist will typically make the final decision on when to close the calls.
  • Respond to unique and sometimes urgent or emergent employee relations issues, 24/7/365 (outside of normal business hours), including but not limited to: employee mental health concerns (threats of suicide, etc.), unfit for duty, injuries, and deaths, etc.
  • Evaluate, develop and conduct training materials, in partnership with the Workforce/Leadership Development Teams for employees and managers related to human resources and strategic HR or department-related topics. Serve as a trainer/presenter at various company orientations, trainings and events.
  • Develop positive, collaborative and effective working relationships with Sheetz managers and employees in alignment with the Sheetz culture.
  • Develop and administer policies and procedures in accordance with current federal, state, local and employment laws.
  • Actively support the Sheetz Legal Department with the Company’s response to EEOC complaints and employment-related litigation, etc.


REQUIREMENTS: (Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered)
Education

  • 4 year degree in Human Resources or related field required

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of general Human Resources experience required

Travel

  • Occasional travel within the Sheetz footprint, as needed

Licenses/Certifications

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP Certification preferred
