Job Description


As a key member of the Learning & Development team, the L&D Instructor supports Mazda North American Operations by serving as the primary Instructor for all employee-facing instructor-led training. This role is responsible for facilitating foundational training that supports the company culture and the employee journey, as well as developmental learning for leadership, skill building and business-related needs. The L&D Instructor partners closely with the Employee Learning Design and Development Manager and instructional designer(s) to deliver innovative and impactful learning solutions to the organization.


Training & Facilitation - 45%
  • Present information in courses using a variety of instructional techniques and formats to ensure information is understood and to optimize participant engagement.
  • Facilitate a variety of programs –ranging from one hour to multi-day programs, and large- and small-group settings – conducted in a classroom or online learning environment which may include product/business specific, leadership or skill development training.
  • Devise modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to ensure learners’ understanding of key concepts within programs and courses.
  • Manage facilitation time effectively; plan out how long different stages should take against the total amount of time learners have to reach an outcome. This includes asking the right questions, monitoring tasks and individual progress to gauge knowledge retention, and adjusting agendas to spend more or less time on tasks as need be.
  • Make necessary adjustments to the learning environment and resources to better support learner needs.
  • Perform administrative duties such as room set up, training registration and general housekeeping. Partner with IT and Facilities as needed.
  • Foster an inclusive learning culture in live-facilitated sessions; find common threads among learners as well as themes in thoughts and shared interest.
  • Ensure psychological safety; ensure each learner feels safe to challenge ideas, admit mistakes and ask questions.
  • Communicate subject matter effectively by understanding the needs of the audience.


Program Management - 35%
  • Summarize, assess, and report on participant enrollment, engagement, and feedback.
  • Draft messaging to communicate the value of courses/curriculums to key stakeholders and audiences in various channels (e.g. email broadcast, intranet, company town hall, newsletter, etc.).
  • Devise modes of assessment, including post-learning surveys and other feedback touchpoints, to measure the impact and effectiveness of programs and courses.
  • Proactively offer solutions and revisions to existing content, as necessary.
  • Manage key aspects of internal training curriculums and programs inclusive of communications, marketing, tracking and evaluation.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and provide detailed insights.
  • Ensure course offerings are updated both on the intranet as well as in the Learning Management System (LMS).


Learning & Development Support - 20%


  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned or directed.
  • Update and maintain training materials and resources.
  • Partner with instructional designers to create innovative learning solutions.
  • In partnership with the Employee Learning Design and Development Manager, play a key role in the learning needs analysis and creation of new offerings.
  • Partner cross-functionally to support the training and facilitation needs across the HR department as well as across the organization.
  • Support the roll-out of Learning & Development programs as needed.
  • Conduct pilot courses and facilitate train-the-trainer sessions while modeling key instructor behaviors.


Qualifications And Other Requirements


Education (Minimum):


Bachelor’s degree in Education, Liberal Studies, Communications, Organizational Psychology, Human Resources, or related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.


Experience


Minimum of 5 years of experience in training and development with the following:


  • 3 years of experience with Adult Learning Methodologies and eLearning required.
  • 2+ years training specifically of soft skills, preferred.
  • 3 years of training/facilitation experience in a corporate environment required.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities


  • Demonstrated competence in facilitating group and individual learning
  • Experience in development, implementation, and evaluation of learning programs
  • Ability to adapt, change and reprioritize based on business needs
  • Impactful written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to inspire and engage learners
  • Strong attention to detail, including editing and proofreading skills
  • Strong affinity for supporting and coaching others, and ability to build rapport with learners
  • Sound knowledge of adult learning principles
  • Organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work independently to prioritize workload, follow up and work efficiently and effectively to deadlines
  • Current knowledge on development in training and instructional methodologies
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint); Microsoft Teams meeting and facilitation functionality knowledge; and experience working with a learning management system (LMS)
  • Adept at working with all levels of the workforce and across a variety of subject areas

May be required 4-6 times per year


Pay Range


$75,490.00-$109,465.00


Salary to be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
