NFL-College Football Associate Editor Role, Part-Time


Job Summary


Part-time NFL/College Football Associate Editors will lead ClutchPoints’ weekend news desk editorial coverage of the NFL and college football. They will plan, write, and edit timely and engaging content in a fast-paced environment alongside their editorial team members. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the 24/7 NFL and college football news cycle and various digital sports platforms for distributing content.


Duties


  • Communicate with editorial team to optimize SEO-winning search headlines and story composition
  • Track Google Trends for content ideas on the NFL and college football
  • Send published articles for distribution to our social media channels
  • Write trending real-time news articles on the NFL and college football, focusing on postgame coverage
  • Communicate with graphics team on creative thumbnails for your content
  • Identify NFL and college football content opportunities to maximize real-time traffic utilizing our internal content strategy and identification guide
  • Follow our breaking news protocol to quickly capitalize on NFL/CFB stories in real-time
  • Edit long-form NFL and college football content from the news desk editorial writing team
  • Help editorial team’s coverage of sports outside of the NFL and college football when needed
  • Ideate more in-depth opinion editorial topics based on trending NFL/CFB news stories


Basic Qualifications


  • Experience with editorial and content creation on the NFL and college football
  • Proficiency with SEO
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Passion and advanced understanding of football, the NFL, and college football
  • Ability to multitask multiple objectives
  • Availability on Saturday and/or Sunday (16 hours max)
  • Understanding of trending sports news and how to craft stories/headlines to capitalize on those moments
