PiP is searching for a Business Development Manager, North America, on behalf of our client, a global academic publisher of books, journals, and a growing suite of library technology products and services. The role is remote, located in the US.
Overview:
The Development Manager, North America will report to the Director of Development, North America for Library Technology. You will lead and implement a growth strategy for the library business and partnerships in territories and customer segments assigned to you, in an exciting business development and library partnerships role for a growth business.
You will be an essential part of the Library Technology sales team in North America, working with colleagues based in the US, the UK and the Netherlands. Your role is one of the first to bring together sales responsibilities across three previously separate businesses. You will also be collaborating closely with a number of sales colleagues in the wider business. This will give you access to best-in-class practices and tools, but more importantly to excellent experience and advice as you take our sales growth forward.
Responsibilities:
Working with and supported by the Director of Development, North America you will
- Help identify and validate new library product and service opportunities for libraries
- Accurately maintain monthly, quarterly and annual forecasts for your assigned territories
- Work strategically and tactically with colleagues in the sales team to look for shared opportunities
- Partner effectively with marketing on successful campaigns to drive library business and patron engagement
- Personally drive new library business to meet ambitious growth targets and deliver excellent relationships with library partners
- Deliver best-practice account management to your library customers
- Acquire and maintain in-depth knowledge of the Library Technology products and services offering, in addition to those of our competitors and other relevant library service providers
- Collate, analyze and communicate useful statistical information relating to the sale of Library Technology products via salesforce
- Proactively communicate and collaborate with diverse colleagues (sales, marketing, product) in Library Technology and the wider business to ensure high levels of engagement and feedback
- Establish and track clear ROI and KPI criteria and assess performance against these responsibilities, including pipeline management
Qualifications:
- Excellent advocacy skills: oral, written and with the ability to present and build strong external relationships
- Excellent negotiation skills, with a proven ability to grow business and hit significant targets
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and be flexible in a changing environment
- Demonstrated influencing, communication, and negotiation skills across teams (both core and matrix) and with all levels of management
- Highly knowledgeable about the library market, trends in higher education, and passionate about the library’s contribution to learning and research
- Strong consultative sales experience within a SaaS context
Compensation:
Salary: $74K-93K plus bonus
