We are a major global non for profit cancer foundation and are in search of a Vice President Patient Engagement & Advocacy
POSITION OVERVIEW
Our Foundation is seeking a Vice President of Patient Engagement & Advocacy to drive policy and access initiatives that will address the needs of the patient community by ensuring equitable access to care to all patients across the world. The role will lead the development and implementation of internal and external public affairs and patient advocacy strategies focused on policy and environment shaping activities. With a strong understanding of global access and policy landscape, the successful candidate will work in a matrixed environment collaboratively generating evidence that highlights areas of need for patients and seeks partnerships to support patient-centered decisions.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Foster and nurture a global community of myeloma patients and caregiver ambassadors, facilitating connections, support networks, and opportunities for shared experiences to influence policy outcomes.
- Monitor and analyze policy and regulatory developments that impact myeloma patients globally & regionally, and actively engage in advocacy efforts to influence policy decisions in alignment with the our goals. Based on these assessments work with the executive team to develop and implement new patient-centered engagement and advocacy programs.
- Increase visibility and uphold our reputation and position as the leading myeloma patient engagement and advocacy organization around the world.
- Work with the our scientific and medical teams to develop and implement strategies for accelerating the development and accessibility of new myeloma treatments and improving patient outcomes.
- Develop and nurture strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, such as biopharma, government agencies, policymakers, researchers, patient advocacy organizations, and other relevant groups where thought leadership discussions/decisions take place.
- Lead efforts to raise awareness of myeloma and advocate for increased funding for research, education, and patient support programs.
- Work closely with other team members, secure funding, grants, and sponsorships to support patient engagement and advocacy initiatives.
- Creates annual business plan for patient engagement and advocacy, provides strategic recommendations, and implements approved global strategies. Generate evidence that highlights areas of need for patients that lead to patient-centered policy and access decisions.
- Work with the CMO and CSO to execute patient-centered research to support qualitative and quantitative discussions regarding care and collaborative initiatives to support myeloma patients globally.
- Serve as the voice of myeloma patients in global policy discussions and advocate for policies that prioritize patient needs.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive domestic and global strategy for patient engagement and advocacy, with a focus on improving patient access to innovative therapies and treatments - including hard to reach populations and BIPOC communities - aligned with the IMF's mission and goals.
- Establish a policy framework focused on ensuring equitable access to care to all patients across the world; including regions with historically low socio-economic resources.
- Performs other related duties as identified.

- Possesses a deep and broad knowledge of policy and advocacy research and methods, as well as a strong business operations acumen to evaluate, monitor, and analyze the policy environment at the global and regional levels.
- Ability to inspire, innovate and work under pressure in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Strong presentation skills; able to effectively communicate concepts and ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Capacity to cultivate and advance relationships with key members of the life science community.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with a passion for relationship building and engaging with external audiences.
- Ability to generate evidence that highlights areas of need for patients and leads to patient-centered decisions
- Proven ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders including industry partners, patient organizations, key opinion leaders, policy makers and regulatory agencies.
- Strong understanding of Global Policy and Access issues.
- Highly skilled at managing multiple priorities and rapidly evolving projects requiring a high degree of organizational and communication skills, flexibility, and agility.
· Strong computer skills, including, but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
