Senior Field Sales Specialist

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage the growth of current customers by supporting customer events
• All other duties as assigned or necessary
• Provide customer feedback to sales, marketing, and product management
• Actively manage Salesforce.com with customer details and sales cycle progression
• Update the Regional Sales Manager in understanding customer reagent usage and reagent forecasting
• Manage specific Tier 2 or 3 customers as assigned by Regional Sales Manager
• Maintain the opportunity pipeline full by helping to organize lead generation activities such as educational seminars and lunch and learns
• Engage with customers using SPIN Selling cadence
• Source new sales opportunities through inbound lead follow-up and outbound cold calls and emails

Required Qualifications:

• Lab experience with cloning and molecular biology techniques
• 5-10 years of sales or marketing experience in biotech
• Solid salesforce.com experience in adding customer data and managing reports
• Lead qualification skills in a capital equipment sales environment
• Thrive in a start-up, rapidly growing company environment
• 5 years experience in biotech process disruption with new technology or automation and robotics
• Take initiative and have a growth mindset
• Excellent verbal and writing skills, great computer skills

Education Requirements:

• Sales methodology education in Strategic Selling, Miller Heiman, SPIN Selling or other formalized sales methodology
• Bachelor’s or Masters’ Degree or equivalent experience required in biology or life sciences

Working Conditions:

• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds required
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• As a critical and essential role, the candidate must be willing and able to travel to the San Diego, CA office to report to work. We have protocols in place to provide a safe, socially distanced work environment.
• This position follows a hybrid work model. Your work schedule will consist of a mixture of onsite (in office) and remote (out of office) workdays. The specific balance of onsite vs. remote work will depend on factors including the nature of your work and the needs of the business at that time, among other considerations. As such, you must be in local proximity to our San Diego, CA location(s) and able to commute to these offices as needed.
