Job Description

Director of Sales: Full-time, travel required


Compensation: Base salary plus commission incentives


Location: On-site in Irvine, California (minimum 3 months), with an optional permanent location in Irvine or Phoenix after 3 months


Travel: approximately 25% - 40% as required to secure business opportunities and meet with team members.


About Core Energy Belts: We manufacture and sell the Core Energy Belt. It’s the only athletic belt that supports core stability for superior performance over the long haul.


We are a small, family-run Japanese business with a strong foothold in the Japanese baseball market. Our belts have become a staple among over 700 professional baseball players, predominantly in Japan's NPB league. Notably, 20 out of 24 players on the Japanese National Team trusted Core Energy when they clinched gold at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Additionally, our belts were widely worn by the majority of the Japanese National Team during their triumphant victory at the 2023 World Baseball Classic.


Now, as we expand our presence in North America, we are seeking a dynamic and accomplished Director of Sales to spearhead our growth. Our product has already captured the attention and admiration of top MLB stars, and we need an exceptional leader like you to propel our baseball and golf business forward. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the COO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our success.


Core Energy USA is a subsidiary of Shirohato Pty Ltd, based in Nagoya, Japan. As part of our tight-knit team, you will enjoy the support of our larger parent company while driving our ambitious goals forward.

You should love the game of baseball and ideally have connections beyond those of a fan. You’ll have the opportunity to connect with some of the greatest players and teams in the world. You’ll be the face of Core Energy and represent us at events and games, establishing our brand presence.


We're seeking a candidate with a proven track record of driving exponential sales growth and who possesses a playbook that can be effectively implemented in a new business. Ideally, you will also have a deep understanding of marketing and communications and how to leverage these tools to support your sales efforts.


Responsibility:

  • Systems Development: Establish and optimize our CRM system (currently HubSpot) and refine prospecting systems.
  • Sales: Lead baseball and golf sales strategy in North America.
  • Communication and Marketing: Depending on experience, this role could include oversight of communication and marketing activities, assisting in engaging current customers.
  • Relationship Management: Cultivate and manage relationships with Major League and College Baseball Teams, PGA Tour, and LIV Golf Tour. Establish and execute our retail sales strategy across various channels.
  • Brand Ambassador: Take center stage by starring in and creating compelling content. Comfortably address large groups and help build our digital presence.


You are:

You Have:

  • 5+ years of Business Unit/Product Line management experience in a rapidly growing business, such as a startup, demonstrating your ability to navigate dynamic environments.
  • Bachelor's degree is desirable, but not required, as we value practical experience and a track record of success.
  • Experience in retail sporting goods with a robust network, allowing you to tap into valuable industry connections.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 25% - 40% of the time, to secure business opportunities and collaborate with team members.
