American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) is a dynamic trade association representing high-tech American manufacturers of virtually the entire U.S. supply of gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, other fuels, and home heating oil, as well as the petrochemicals used as building blocks for thousands of vital products in daily life, from paints to plastics, space suits to solar panels, and medicines to mobile phones.
AFPM is looking for a Senior Associate to join our small but mighty Human Resources (HR) team. This role involves a mix of HR administrative tasks, project coordination, and consultative communications. You will gain exposure to all facets of HR from recruiting, benefits, employee relations, compliance, and more.
Responsibilities
- Assist with managing and maintaining data in HRIS and other systems.
- Research trends and stay up to date on current HR laws and regulations.
- Assist with coordination of AFPM’s Labor Relations & Human Resources Committee and internal DEI Group including communication, scheduling, logistics, listserv management, and materials.
- Maintain confidentiality of materials, conversations and documents.
- Maintain HR department folders and file organization.
- Manage interview scheduling, meeting room reservations, reference checks, job postings, onboarding and other related recruitment support.
- Assist with administration of employee benefits.
- Perform a wide range of administrative duties and special projects in support of the Human Resources team.
- Proofread and edit HR communications and collateral for internal and external audiences.
- Work closely with the team to keep all informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities and follow up on internal and external department requests and deadlines.
Qualifications
- Experience with conducting research, data collection, and analyzing data preferred.
- Strong verbal and email communication.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and strong time management skills.
- Proven ability to work with and maintain strict confidentiality of data, including spoken, digital and written information and communications.
- Strong proofreading and editing skills required.
- College degree preferred or the equivalent in experience and training.
- Preference to work in a team environment in which collaboration and coaching are the norm.
- 1+ years of administrative support experience, HR experience preferred.
Salary for this position is market-driven and based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
