- Essential Job Functions: Recruitment (Staff and Interns):With a strong Christian world view and a lens of diversity & equity, the HR coordinator:
- Supervisory Responsibilities: None
- Job Summary:The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for performing and/or assisting in Human Resources activities including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and diversity and internship initiatives.
Reviews hiring needs with managers, updating job descriptions as necessary prior to posting. Creates job/internship postings that tell a story about TCM and the opportunity in ministry in conjunction with TCM’s recruitment strategy
Continues to research new and cutting-edge recruitment methods and techniques. Posts positions and manages applicants for TCM open positions & internships. Coordinates and maintains recruiting materials (paper/electronic)
Attends job fairs and collegian events to promote TCM open positions/internship opportunities. Works closely with our Marketing and Communications Manager and Community Engagement manager to ensure our open positions are reaching the community. Screens applicants according to The City Mission’s hiring policies. Communicates with candidates to facilitate interviews. Checks and documents references, verifies and documents CEOs approval of hire, coordinates verbal offers, sends formal offers, obtains and documents TCM’s screening requirements. Maintains communication and engagement with new hires & interns before start day.
Onboarding New Employees & Interns:
Announces new hires to staff
Creates and implements new/effective onboarding systems
Facilitates onboarding meetings to help new hires/interns to accurately complete all new hire paperwork and reviews HR documents
Enters new hire information in Kronos
Assists in monthly New Hire Orientations
Internships:
Plans and implements internship program to be consistent with organizational needs
Organizes TCM Staff Appraisals with each intern and their respective supervisor to evaluate effectiveness of each intern’s service
Conducts Exit Interviews to determine effectiveness of internship program
Employee relations:
Assists the Director of HR with employee relations activities such as: Training on TCM’s performance management/progressive disciple policies
Assists in the creation of progressive discipline documentation
Represents HR in performance management meetings
Other:
Maintain TCM’s org chart and accountability chart
Assists Director of HR with Employee Handbook updates
Upon being notified of a resignation (or termination), executes the separation checklist, and ensure all items on the checklist have been completed in conjunction with the Payroll & Benefits Specialist.
Maintains staffing data in Kronos in conjunction with the Payroll & Benefits Specialist
Maintains staff files and documents
Administratively manages Relias training system
Updates and maintains job descriptions
Any other duties as assigned by the Director – Human Resources & Employee Development or CEO
- Requirements
- Skills/Abilities (required unless noted): Proficient in Microsoft Office software & other recruiting platforms
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Mobile technology and social media aptitude
Maintains confidentiality and professionalism
Education/Experience:Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in related field required
1-3 years of recruitment experience required
1-3 years of general human resources experience preferred

Essential Physical and Mental Functions:Remains in a stationary position 60% of the time
Stand or walk for up to 40% of the time on various surfaces (tile, concrete, carpet)
Climb stairs occasionally
Occasionally bend/twist at waist/knees/neck to perform various duties

Constant use of eyes (correctable vision to normal level required) to observe, read, interact with public and co-workers; includes hand/eye coordination
Read, understand and clearly speak English; constantly use speech and hearing (correctable to normal level required) in communicating with public/co-workers, giving and receiving instructions, using phones
Constant mental alertness and attention to detail required while setting priorities and following up on assignments
Must possess exceptional written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner; must be able to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines
Must be able to communicate professionally via computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook
Must be able to handle pressure of interruptions in daily activities
Spiritual Requirements:Professes Jesus as Lord and Savior
Believes the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, & ultimate authoritative Word of God (II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:21)
