Job Description

Our Mission

At New Leaders, we develop transformational, equity-minded school leaders and advance policies and practices that ensure high academic achievement for all children—especially students of color and students from communities with lower incomes.


Position Details

The HR Coordinator and Recruiter will be based out of a home office located anywhere within the contiguous United States (Pacific, Mountain, Central, and Eastern time zones) or United States territories that fall within the Atlantic time zone.


Position Overview

The HR Coordinator and Recruiter partners with the Executive Director, HR Benefits and Administration and the Senior Director, Talent Acquisition to execute HR Administration and Talent Acquisition day-to-day operations, ensure that all employees have access to the human resources administration and benefits resources to perform at their best and achieve the mission of New Leaders, and attract and onboard high-quality talent to the organization.


The HR Coordinator and Recruiter reports to the Executive Director, HR Benefits and Administration.


Specific Responsibilities

Human Resources Operations

  • Develop and execute project plans and team calendars to ensure all HR compliance items are accounted for.
  • Coordinate and facilitate staff recognition initiatives such as sending birthday cards, arranging baby gifts, and acknowledging work anniversaries.
  • Organize and maintain HR documentation in adherence to New Leaders Document Retention & Destruction Policy, data security protocols, and legal requirements.
  • Update and maintain the HR Link Page (intranet) on a regular basis.
  • Support other HR compliance and operations initiatives as directed.
  • Conduct monthly data reconciliation to verify the accuracy and integrity of HR-related data and reports.
  • Process employee exits ensuring all company assets are accounted for and system access is shut down.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Team on the management and tracking of work-from-home stipends for eligible employees on a monthly basis.
  • Assist in the invoicing process for HR-related services, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Generate and maintain exit/new hire tickets to ensure accurate and up-to-date records of employee departures.
  • Assist employees with HR systems (including ADP, Cornerstone and eTime).
  • Receive, prioritize, and process HR-related tickets, ensuring timely resolution and follow up or appropriate escalation to other HR team members.
  • Create and maintain records of HR contracts, ensuring completeness and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Support the setup of new state/local tax IDs for employees and assist in the preparation and filing of quarterly tax reports as required.


Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Manage applications, candidate database, and documentation.
  • Manage the administration and collection of new hire surveys, providing insights and feedback to the HR team.
  • Participate in managing the career center job postings through ATS, LinkedIn, and Job Boards to attract diverse talent.
  • Coordinate the new hire onboarding process in partnership with HR Benefits & Administration, IT, and Hiring Managers.
  • Administer the entire interview process in partnership with internal stakeholders and hiring managers.
  • Ensure prompt communication and follow-up to deliver services as planned.
  • Manage administration, logistics, and planning throughout the hiring process, collaborating with New Leaders Operations Managers as appropriate.
  • Monitor and track the performance of temporary employees hired through an agency, ensuring adherence to company policies and contractual obligations.
  • Review candidate applications and resumes and conduct virtual face-to-face phone screens to identify qualified candidates.
  • Develop and improve processes to ensure successful onboarding of new staff.
  • Provide overall project management and operations support of the hiring process.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field is preferred.
  • Experience managing and executing projects to achieve and exceed ambitious goals.
  • Computer proficiency, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and internet tools.
  • Knowledge and experience working with ATS, HRIS, CRM, other technologies.
  • 2+ years in Human Resources, Talent Recruitment, or similar experience strongly preferred.
  • Passion for building effective teams through talent.
  • Service orientation to deliver efficiently and effectively.
  • Travel required to attend meetings and events aligned to New Leaders’ Travel and In-Person Activities policy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
  • Good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Comfortable in a virtual environment.
  • Flexibility to work independently and as a team player.
  • 4 years of professional experience required.
  • Constant learner, self-motivated; ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.

  • High degree of professionalism, discretion in handling confidential and sensitive matters.


The salary range for new hires in this position is $72,000-$75,000. Salaries vary based on geographical location. After submitting an application, candidates who move forward in the hiring process are provided with the salary for their geographical location. Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible to participate in the New Leaders Health Benefits and Wellness Program, through which New Leaders offers two robust medical plan options, dental care, vision, and other benefits. New Leaders also offers a 401K plan for eligible employees and generous paid-time-off benefits. Employees may be eligible for merit awards, bonuses, and/or commissions depending on the role, organizational guidelines, and individual performance. New Leaders also has a 4 ½ day work week.


New Leaders requires each employee to be fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccination (i.e., at least two weeks have passed since the employee received the dose of a single-dose vaccine or the second dose of a two-dose vaccine with at least the minimum recommended interval between doses) or to obtain an approved exemption or reasonable accommodation through the Human Resources team within six weeks of their start date as a term and condition of employment.
