Job Description
About The Organization

The END Fund is the world's leading collaborative philanthropic investment vehicle dedicated to controlling and eliminating neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). NTDs are parasitic and bacterial infectious diseases – including intestinal worms, river blindness, trachoma, schistosomiasis, and lymphatic filariasis – that affect over 1.7 billion people globally. The END Fund's vision is to ensure people can live healthy and prosperous lives free of the risk of NTDs and has set out to accomplish this by

  • Advocating for innovative, integrated and cost-effective NTD programs; and
  • Mobilizing and investing resources for maximum impact,
  • Facilitating philanthropic and private sector engagement to end these diseases.

By engaging a community of activist-philanthropists and taking a systems approach, the END Fund works in collaboration with governments, local and international NGOs, pharmaceutical companies, and academic partners on the global campaign to control and eliminate the most prevalent NTDs by 2030.

Since our founding in 2012 through 2022, with our partners, the END Fund has provided over 1.5 billion treatments for NTDs worth more than $2.3 billion. In 2022 alone, we reached more than 201.8 million people with more than 284.4 million NTD treatments. The END Fund works globally in 26 countries, with a primary emphasis in Africa.

  • Leverage our unique assets to be of the best and highest service to the collective movement to end NTDs, ensuring we complement and do not duplicate the work of others.
  • Human Dignity We believe in the fundamental dignity of all human beings, and so we
  • Uphold a vision of human flourishing and belonging at the center of our work and interactions.
  • Ensure excellence, elegance and accuracy in all communications and interactions with investors and partners.
  • Recognize relationships are complex, nuanced and evolving and require commitment, humility, and compassion.
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit We are committed to embracing innovation and maintaining an entrepreneurial spirit in all that we do, and so we
  • Treat everyone with respect, kindness, and a spirit of generosity and gratitude. Invest the time and attention needed to build, earn, and maintain trusted, long-term, and collaborative relationships with partners, investors and colleagues.
  • Foster, identify and fast-track innovations that can increase our impact.
  • Employ a highly efficient, effective and result-oriented approach to mobilizing and allocating capital.
  • Embrace and respect differences, foster an inclusive culture, and instill fair, ethical and equitable practices.
  • Center the voices and experiences of people and communities affected by neglected tropical diseases in all that we do.
  • Invest in data-driven, country-led and sustainable programs.
  • Exemplary Stewardship We take seriously the privilege and responsibility of stewarding our investors' resources and serving communities at risk of NTDs, and so we
  • Strive to ensure that no one at risk of neglected tropical diseases is left behind.

About The Position

The END Fund is a global nonprofit organization with a high-performing international team that has grown rapidly in the last few years and now has team members in more than 13 countries in North America, Africa and Europe. The Head of Culture and Talent – reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, with a dotted line to the Chief Executive Officer, and currently managing a team of two – will champion a healthy and inclusive culture in alignment with our core values and support END Fund team members to achieve our ambitious mission. The Head of Culture & Talent must be deeply committed to cross-cultural collaboration; diversity, equity, and inclusion in a global sense; and building a collaborative and collegial environment that fosters a sense of community and belonging.

  • Convening a working group and leading the content and logistics planning for a 2024 in-person global team retreat
  • Leading the process to define and articulate the END Fund's internal culture and identifying metrics to track progress on this over time

Other ongoing essential functions of the Head of Culture & Talent role include

Lead the Culture & Talent team, setting goals and strategy in support of the END Fund's mission and vision.

  • Set the vision and strategic direction for Culture & Talent across the organization and ensure the team is tracking toward milestones and making progress on goals
  • Strive to ensure a positive employee experience for all END Fund team members and to cultivate a culture that aligns with our mission and values

  • Serve as a champion and advocate for people, values and culture in all levels of organizational decision-making
  • Serve as an effective trainer and peer leader who can support the organization's continuous improvement and development and help all team members to reach their full potential
  • Strengthen and manage channels for internal communications, conflict resolution, and appropriate issues escalation; support and/or lead internal and external HR investigations on an as-needed basis
  • Engage regularly and build constructive relationships with all people managers and individual contributors and serve as a highly accessible resource for coaching and advising

Drive a high-functioning culture that supports all team members in line with best practice, organizational values, and DEI, including internal communication and employee education.

  • Build trusting relationships with team members at all levels and ensure there are formal and informal feedback channels

  • As a member of the senior leadership team committed to the organization's successful pursuit of its aims, seek to optimize performance in service of the organization's mission to end neglected tropical diseases
  • As an in-house specialist, serve as a senior advisor to the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer and department heads with regard to best practices in employee engagement, change management and performance measurement, with an emphasis on organizational culture and diversity, equity and inclusion
