Your work days are brighter here.

At Workday, it all began with a conversation over breakfast. When our founders met at a sunny California diner, they came up with an idea to revolutionize the enterprise software market. And when we began to rise, one thing that really set us apart was our culture. A culture which was driven by our value of putting our people first. And ever since, the happiness, development, and contribution of every Workmate is central to who we are. Our Workmates believe a healthy employee-centric, collaborative culture is the essential mix of ingredients for success in business. That’s why we look after our people, communities and the planet while still being profitable. Feel encouraged to shine, however that manifests: you don’t need to hide who you are. You can feel the energy and the passion, it's what makes us unique. Inspired to make a brighter work day for all and transform with us to the next stage of our growth journey? Bring your brightest version of you and have a brighter work day here.

About The Team

Employee & Executive Communications is a team of storytellers and strategic advisors to internal stakeholders who engage Workmates across the globe to drive business impact. We actively support executive communications that promote Workday’s exciting growth trajectory. And we're excited to be at the center of driving important change across the company: positively influencing Workmate behaviors, strengthening our culture and instilling confidence and trust in Workday, internally and externally.

About The Role

It’s an incredibly exciting time to be at Workday! We’re actively seeking the right talent to help us achieve our aggressive growth goals, scale the company and foster our unique culture. Growth requires a change mindset and this leader will play a critical role in helping our Workmates adapt and lead through this evolution.

The Director, Employees & Culture Communications role is critical to positively influencing Workmate behaviors, strengthening our culture and reinforcing confidence and trust in Workday, internally and externally. This leader will drive the creation of a strategic framework to help tell our culture and employee-centric story with Workday’s values as the foundation (employees, customers, integrity, innovation, fun and profitability). This includes responsibility for identifying key themes, and developing and executing integrated communication strategies that engage employees, celebrate our special culture and drive business results. We’re looking for a curious and creative individual who thrives on challenging the status quo - considering new ways to deliver information. This leader will weave a common thread that helps our Workmates better understand the company’s strategy, our clear priorities and expectations, the investment in our people, and all the ways they can grow and thrive.

With a hybrid workforce, it is important to foster connections that strengthen culture, and communicate cross-functional, integrated plans that have a greater impact than basic transactional, update-related communications. As we move through a time of change, this Director will implement an approach that brings our Workmates along the journey, focusing on driving innovation, collaboration, productivity and performance.

The Director, Employees & Culture Communications reports to the VP, Employee & Executive Communications and will lead a team with responsibility for:

  • Support for the Workday Foundation and its ongoing efforts in our communities and world
  • Workday’s Chief People Officer and her thought leadership platform, internally and externally
  • Communicating Corporate Real Estate and Workplace Safety team updates
  • Communicating People & Purpose (HR) initiatives, programs and offerings (including, Employee Life, Total Rewards, Talent Experience, Learning & Development and Belonging & Diversity)
  • Employee onboarding communications for key mergers & acquisitions

Responsibilities

  • Develop programs and initiatives to support our culture and values in action
  • Build corporate reputation internally and externally through all people-focused communications
  • Develop Chief People Officer’s thought leadership platform and internal and external engagement
  • Manage budgets, timelines, and resources associated with communication activities
  • Partner with the Belonging & Diversity team and Issues Management team to progress a culture that values inclusion, belonging and equity (VIBE) for all.
  • Partner with key stakeholders on campaigns, launching new initiatives and introducing programs - ensuring broad awareness and understanding
  • Leverage internal and external communication channels to ensure timely, consistent and effective communications with employees
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and external agencies
  • Track and report on key metrics to measure the success of communications and engagement efforts
  • Manage the creation and distribution of content for internal communications and ensure a consistent message
  • Manage a team of four with responsibility for growing, mentoring and managing careers
  • Coordinate as a strategic partner on change and HR-related milestones, in such areas as company culture/values, employee experience and employee learning
  • Develop, implement and manage a comprehensive communication strategy and plan for employee engagement, culture building and business results

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in employee, internal or external communications roles, ideally within a technology company

Other Qualifications

  • Proven experience designing and executing communications strategies in coordination with business partners in support of enterprise priorities
  • Strong project management, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Experience leading and uniting teams - both co-located and distributed
  • Knowledge of the latest trends and technologies in internal communications
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience growing careers - mentoring, managing and providing opportunities for personal and professional development
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build trust-based relationships with executive leaders
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful internal communication strategies and campaigns
  • Understanding of HR, corporate culture and organizational development

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.

Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

Workday is an Equal Opportunity Employer including individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.
