Rampart Bioscience is currently seeking a highly proficient Director of Human Resources. The HR Director will ensure that HR policies, procedures, and strategies are executed to support R&D operations and the organization's values.

What You'll Do


Supports all areas of human resources including talent acquisition, employee relations, employee engagement, inclusion, diversity and administration for the Company.


  • Manages compliance with company, federal, state, and local policies, and regulations related to employment, compensation, and workers’ compensation.
  • Works with leadership to develop HR policies, processes, and other initiatives.
  • Maintains knowledge best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Provides first-level technical support for employees with internal HR site (Zenefits) and Performance Management site (Trakstar), and provides necessary HR maintenance to include updating the employee handbook, updating processes and forms, creating documentation, etc. as needed.
  • Manages and administers relevant company training programs.
  • Provides regular updates on key metrics for the company.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Integration and communication with the executive team on all HR related topics.
  • Administers and develops a departmental budget.
  • Coordinates and leads engagement initiatives.
  • Coaches managers on effective staff management, retention, and recognition and development techniques; and to effectively communicate, and to set appropriate expectations in behavior and performance.
  • Engages in employee relations and coordinates/implements appropriate action and resolution.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Occasional travel to La Jolla Office.
  • Provides leadership and establishes a work environment through employee engagement that enables the Company to fulfill its mission.


What You'll Bring


Required Qualifications:


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with HRIS software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and to delegate when appropriate.
  • Supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience in a start-up biotech environment
  • Experience with Zenefits, and Trakstar
  • Experience functioning as a one-person HR Department


Education Requirements and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in an HR Generalist/Manager/Director role.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred.
  • At least five years of human resource management experience required.


Compensation, Benefits & Additional Information


Compensation range: $130,000 - $160,000 Annually, commensurate with qualifications

Actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors that are unique to each candidate including, but not limited to: skill set, depth of experience, education, certifications, and specific work location.
