Job Description
Salary: $4,691.60 to $6,646.14/per month

POSITION: Under close supervision, assists the Human Resources Department with a variety of support functions in worker’s compensation, recruitment /selection, benefit administration, retirement, compensation, and employee relations as assigned. Incumbents in this class may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Schedules, assists, and may conducts orientations to new hires;
  • Type and completes forms and documents as assigned;
  • Responds to inquiries regarding benefits, payroll, workers compensation, and recruitment status;
  • Researches and reviews HR system to provide employment, salary, and benefit enrollment verifications;
  • Supports other Human Resources staff.
  • Assists applicants as needed regarding application process;
  • Provides the public and staff with employment information;
  • Creates and maintains new hire files and verify documents;
  • Generates statistical reports for outside agencies;
  • Completes written employment verifications;
  • Submits paperwork to appropriate department to update records;


Knowledge, Skills And Other Characteristics


  • Ability to maintain and demonstrate a professional demeanor and appearance at all times; to maintain confidentiality regarding departmental activities and Human Resources actions;
  • Experience with EDEN is preferred.
  • Knowledge of office practices, procedures and organization, office record keeping and correct English usage to include grammar, spelling, and punctuation;
  • Skilled in establishing productive working relationships with all level of staff and community members; and in following and providing oral and written instructions;
  • Proficient in the use of a personal computers to include MS Office System (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)


Qualifications


A high school diploma or equivalent combined with some college coursework in accounting, statistics, or human resources AND two (2) years recent experience performing increasingly responsible work in a fast pace business environment preferably in a public sector HR office.


THE EXAMINATION PROCESS for this position begins with review of all applications submitted. A limited number of applicants deemed as “most qualified” will be invited to participate in the examination for this recruitment.


The examination shall consist of one or more of the following test parts: Technical and Experience Evaluation, Writing Assessment, and a Qualifications Appraisal Interview with a panel of subject matter experts. Candidates must pass each test part with a score of 70% or higher to have his/her name placed on the active eligibility list for this position.


The top three ranks from the eligibility list shall have their names and the application materials certified to the hiring authority for a selection interview. Candidates who are not selected for the current vacancy, shall remain on the active list for a period of one year or until there is less than three ranks on the list. All new appointments serve a one year probationary period.


All employment offers are contingent on completion of fingerprint/background check, and clearance following a medical exam by a City authorized physician.
