The Customer Development Manager is responsible for the integration of all business unit (BU) strategies into customer plans. The primary responsibility is to enable DMFI’s field sales team to grow our businesses profitability in partnership with customer teams, which is accomplished through strategic partnership with sales leaders.


The Customer Development Manager is responsible for trade spend management, planning, and the execution of our sales strategies. This role is also a strong advocate for the sales team and acts as a liaison between sales and cross functional partners such as demand planning, finance, sales strategy & planning, and sales operations, among others.


This Position is fully remote and can be located in the following states: AR, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, IN, MI, MN, NJ, NC, NV, OH, PA, TN, TX, VA, WA, WI.


The salary range for this role is: $100,464 - $170,664.


Responsibilities:


The Customer Development Manager assists sales leaders with planning and measuring BU performance in the Zone, manages all trade spending, and is responsible for leading the integration of sales strategies with customers. Specific responsibilities include:


  • Collaborate with category insights and sales to track and measure customer merchandising events to ensure plans are executed as expected and validation and results of sales strategies and event execution is communicated to key stakeholders
  • Provide Field Sales with the timely communication of information related to customer initiatives to ensure flawless execution and attainment of objectives including the communication of pricing action and supply challenges
  • Drive Zone sales performance through a relentless pursuit for delivering AOP targets through the delivery of annual KPIs and the selling agenda; this leader works closely with the Zone Sales Leader to track, measure, and hold the sales team accountable for executing sales strategies
  • Drive Joint Business Planning (JBP) process with top customers, lead sales growth initiatives that are focused on improved sales, financial performance, and efficiency (of spend and volume), and adapt sales plans for various customers and channels as needed
  • Act as the Del Monte BU expert when creating and activating customer plans, bringing creative solutions to business challenges; have a problem-solving mindset
  • Work with sales leaders to ensure pricing and sales strategies are executed as expected
  • Collaborate with cross functional partners to ensure proper messaging and content in customer plans and meeting materials; maintain a strong voice in planning meetings and projects involving cross functional partners involved in customer meeting content
  • Manage the Zone’s customer planning process from a strategic perspective and evaluation of results including:
  • Manage all trade spending activities, working closely with sales leaders to ensure the execution of merchandising events, pricing, and other customer spending activities
  • Lead Field Sales participation in the development of the annual Customer planning process for the Zone (AOP); also leads the Zone in all long-range planning (LRP)
  • Monitor execution and results against objectives (volume, spending, profit & MAPS)
  • Customer Plan roll-ups and review (identify key opportunities to drive volume growth in all MAPS areas)
  • Convey Zone priorities and channel development needs with key stakeholders, working cross functionally to both develop and execute new growth platforms where necessary.


Qualifications:

  • Ability to think creatively, demonstrated strength in managing multiple projects simultaneously, and manage complexity
  • Management.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in consumer-packaged goods industry
  • Preferred to have prior Field Sales or Sales Support experience including Retail Sales/Direct Selling and people
  • Strong mental acuity especially in planning/forecasting and in working closely with sales leaders to maximize spend to performance
  • Strong results orientation; ability and history in delivering results
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence others; mobilize teams for a positive and timely
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong capabilities in Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Strong orientation to solving problems; bring creative solutions to complex business problems
  • BS Business Administration
  • Demonstrated ability to be highly collaborative, act with urgency, and drive projects through completion
