Summary:
The Benefits & Reporting Manager will play a key role to further develop an inclusive and comprehensive strategy across the Deployed Services organization. This role will partner closely with HR, HRIS, Payroll, and all employees as part of designing, communicating, and administering all benefit programs.
Essential Functions:
- Act as liaison with Benefits Broker and various insurance carrier key contacts; foster effective relationships with both
- Manage all compliance activities including ACA reporting and filings, non-discrimination testing and various state and federal reporting
- Process changes for active employees for off-cycle qualified life events; discontinue or reinstate benefits for terminated employees; manage COBRA coverage for terminated employees
- Act as a resource for HR colleagues to ensure their understanding and compliance with benefit and HR policies and regulations. Keep management advised of potential problem areas and recommend/implement solutions as appropriate
- Act as Point of contact for ADP benefit-related questions or issues. Key contact with ADP to resolve benefit plan or system/technical issues
- Strive to ensure employee understanding of benefit programs by regularly generating communication and counseling employees as situations arise
- Provide backup admin support to the 401k retirement plan, including loan and distribution approvals, report generation, and data entry to the HRIS system
- Other duties as assigned
- Manage the day-to-day operations and administration of various employee benefit programs, including but not limited to health and welfare programs (medical, dental, prescription drug, well-being, life, and disability), retirement (defined contribution and defined benefit), and employee assistance programs, consistent with corporate objectives and Human Resources strategy. You will also serve as a key leader in delivering projects to evaluate and improve operations and administration
- Conducts new hire benefit orientation to ensure employees gain an understanding of benefit plans and enrollment provisions. Counsel employees (and potential employees/applicants) on plan provisions so that individuals can make informed benefit decisions
- Design, plan, and implement corporate benefits programs, policies, and procedures
- Manage leaves of absences (FMLA and non-FMLA); work directly with employee, generate required paperwork, complete timesheets, and pay information until employee returns to work
- Manage annual open enrollment. Arrange for distribution of materials from carriers, assist with communicating changes to employee. Process changes and enrollments within deadlines
- Act as Key contact and administrator for the employee self-service portal in ADP
Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrated success working in a demanding, high performance work environment and team-oriented culture
- Ability to successfully navigate complex problems and business situations
- Process oriented leader that ensures consistency in approach and administration across all Benefits
- Maturity and discretion in dealing with confidential matters and demonstrate the highest level of client service and support
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with different groups including leadership, employees, Benefits Brokers, third party administrators, and auditors
- Employee friendly orientation with desire to help employees understand and utilize our Benefits
- Ability to work flexible hours
Education and Experience:
- Experience and understanding of applicable federal and local regulations pertaining to benefits (ERISA, HIPAA, PPACA, etc.)
- Minimum of 5 – 7 years of related work experience in benefits administration
- Bachelor’s degree in human resource, Finance or related discipline or equivalent combination of education & relevant experience
- Strong skills in MS Excel including complex formulas and use of functions required
- Must pass a drug test, motor vehicle record check and a background check after accepting a conditional offer of employment
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
