Job Description
Candle Media has an opening for a Benefits & Payroll Manager based out of their Los Angeles office reporting to the Senior Director of Total Rewards. This strategic role will sit at our Los Angeles office, and work a hybrid schedule with three days onsite: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The ideal candidate is someone who is highly motivated, exhibits patience, teamwork, critical thinking, emotional intelligence and has strong communication skills.


The Benefits & Payroll Manager will be focused on executing internal processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency, and providing proactive communication and support to key stakeholders. This person's role spans the management of ongoing day to day operations as well as large projects including annual benefits design, open enrollment and audits.


What You Will Own:


  • Support HRIS system implementations with a strong focus on process optimization, user experience, and change management
  • Perform semi-monthly and bi-weekly payroll processing for multiple entities
  • Design and deliver recurring reports, dashboards, and adhoc reports as needed
  • Direct and service-oriented interactions with team members, business unit stakeholders and executives regarding areas of your expertise
  • Coordinate with HR teams for review and approval of time, attendance and payroll
  • Preparation of (or delivery of) benefit orientation presentation to new hires
  • Holistic and purposeful benefits administration including answering team member questions, driving Open Enrollment, onboarding new team members, collaborating with our benefits broker, tracking leave of absences, and researching new benefits to add to a robust employee-centric plan
  • Ensure projects are delivered accurately, timely, and compliantly.
  • Manage legal and compliance audits such as income taxes, statutory social securities, benefits audits, and more.
  • Conduct recurring audits and employer reporting including Workers Compensation, 401k, EEO1, etc
  • Establish relationships with payroll and benefits vendors and resources


Requirements


  • Knowledge of U.S. state and federal wage and hour laws
  • At least 2 years of experience in benefits operations and 1 year of experience on a self-funded medical plan, a plus
  • Comfortable handling highly confidential information with discretion
  • Humble – approachable and kind, asking for assistance when needed
  • Minimum of 5 years in-house payroll and benefits delivery experience with a strong functional knowledge of UKG Pro
  • Ability to work independently and execute autonomously
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Strong stakeholder and project management skills including demonstrated ability to partner with all levels as well as senior leadership.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills
  • Flexibility with the ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills.
