Job Description
Under the direction of the Payroll and Benefits Manager, the Payroll and Benefits Specialist will work on tasks to support the day-to-day operations benefits (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, accident plan, health savings plan, flexible spending plan, retirement plans, etc.) and assist with leave administration. This position will be responsible for preparing and tracking payroll changes for the Payroll and Benefits Manager to approve. This is a remote position and you must be able to work free from distractions.


The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for coordinating the employee benefits programs and completing payroll in the absence of the Payroll and Benefits Manager

Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Assist with the organization of payroll and benefit files, assist with maintaining and working with Human Resource Generalists to make sure that the system is updated timely and accurately.
  • Assists with 401(k) plan by entering deferral rates and loans into ADP WorkforceNow
  • Creates communication flyers based on the Payroll and Benefits Manager’s communication strategy.
  • Assists with employee insurance programs including life, disability, and health insurance plans
  • Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, and other deductions
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Serve as back up to reach out to vendors and third-party administrators.
  • Familiarity with ERISA, ACA, SECURE ACT, FMLA, USERRA, ADA. Medicare, Social Security, COBRA, HIPPA
  • Assists with administering leave of absences and FMLA
  • Enters, maintains, and/or prepares for processing information in the payroll system; information may include employee’s hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information
  • Assist with monthly invoice reconciliation from benefit vendor
  • Assists with records, reporting, and other documentation required by federal, state, and provider rules, regulations, and policies
  • Team with Human Resources Generalists to communicate resources to help staff understand benefits package.
  • Review the carrier connection files that are sent each payroll to ensure data integrity
  • Creates custom and standard reports in ADP in the areas of Time and Attendance, Time off, Payroll, ACA, Benefit and other ad hoc reporting


Required Skills/Abilities:


  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Advanced knowledge with Google G-Suite and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Advanced knowledge of the payroll function in ADPWorkforceNow, including preparation, balancing, and internal controls.
  • Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws


Education/Experience:


Required:


  • 3-5 Years Experience processing payroll in ADP Workforce Now
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel in performing lookup and reference formulas, basic math functions, pivot tables, and data visualization.
  • Associates degree in HR or related field, but experience and/or other training/certification may be substituted for the education.


Preferred:


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field of study
  • CPP, SHRM-CP or CEBS professional designations preferred


Physical Requirements:


  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
