Job Description

Vice President, Technology – eClinical Technology Vendor – U.S. (Remote)


I am currently partnered with a rapidly growing eClinical Tech Vendor that provides a platform and apps to large pharmaceutical and biotech companies.


We are looking for a VP of Technology to lead a global team of 100+ employees, set and implement the tech management strategy and assist in building and automating the products.


Purpose

As a vital technology leader, this role is responsible for forging strong partnerships with different business segments within the organization and developing a comprehensive understanding of their operations. The objective is to become a trusted advisor in the realms of technology management plans, strategies, and services.

In collaboration with the Chief Product Officer, this position plays a pivotal role in the day-to-day management of engineering, infrastructure, Project Management Office (PMO), platform quality, bug fix, help desk, and corporate IT functions.

Under the guidance of the Chief Product Officer, this role takes the lead in driving transformation programs and initiatives aimed at continuous improvement across enterprise technology. By working across various technology functions and leadership teams, they ensure the definition and progress of appropriate Enterprise Technology Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).

Moreover, this role actively engages with platforms, taking a deep dive into their intricacies. By acting as a customer advocate, they effectively translate technology gaps into actionable objectives for development, contributing to the overall product and technology roadmaps.


Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain technology roadmaps and plans, integrating them into overall enterprise technology roadmaps.
  • Develop key trusted relationships with executive decision makers within the assigned business segments, understanding business and technology strategies, objectives, and priorities.
  • Develop key performance metrics to measure success and identify and iterate on opportunities for optimization
  • Develop and execute technology vision, strategy and portfolio while ensuring alignment with all stakeholders
  • Build, lead, and develop a technology team, promoting a positive environment and teamwork spirit, developing competence, and providing clear vision, issue resolution, motivation, and mentoring
  • Partner with executives in the Enterprise Technology management teams to define and prioritize technology needs/capabilities and the strategic initiatives and roadmap plan to deliver the technology platforms and solutions to support current and future business needs
  • Develop team through coaching and live by example for the team to look up for any department-related workstreams.
  • Set and implement technology management strategy in alignment with the overall strategy and Business Development
  • Direct and manage innovation efforts as well as all technological business needs
  • Develop organizational training and change management initiatives to support strategic priorities.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Executive presence and presentation skills, with demonstrable ability to effectively influence upward decision-making.
  • Responsible for department budgeting and close control on margins
  • Track record of proven breakthrough strategies
  • Strong Project management skills and experience managing a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to identify and analyze technology trends, synthesize technology outlooks, analyze/shape business, and operating model design.
  • Experience with story boarding and messaging across different stakeholder groups in a matrix organization


Education and Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in of hands-on experience managing and leading software technology teams large or mid-sized tech organizations. Exp in GCP quality assurance, auditing, regulatory compliance, and experience in the CRO, clinical research or pharmaceutical industry with experience will be an added advantage.
