Vice President Of Construction

Chesapeake Search Partners [CSP] is a Baltimore based search firm with six verticals; Accounting & Finance, Human Resources, Real Estate & Financial Services, Sales & Marketing, Engineering & Operations and IT. We are working with an outstanding company based in Baltimore that is looking for a VP of Construction to be a strategic member of the executive team.

Core Execution and Oversight Responsibilities

1. Managing the entire construction department across Baltimore, Detroit and Pittsburgh, fostering a culture of accountability, high performance, and teamwork both within the department and across internal counterparties.
2. Developing and implementing departmental policies, procedures, and best practices that promote a positive firm culture and ensure consistency and efficiency across all projects.
3. Managing personnel to ensure that all work is completed efficiently and effectively – exceeding third-party alternatives in speed, quality and value – while also providing leadership, guidance, and direction to foster a positive team culture.
4. Working closely with project managers from the investments team to ensure feasibility and deliver construction projects on time, within budget, and to a high level of quality.
5. Developing and maintaining relationships with vendors and subcontractors to ensure that the department has access to the resources needed to complete projects and foster positive partnerships.
6. Coordinating with internal counterparts to ensure that all invoicing, documentation and reporting is suitable for Asset management, Accounting and lender draw application.
7. Managing budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required level of quality while also maximizing utilization of internal teams to avoid downtime.
8. Ensuring that all construction projects comply with relevant regulations and codes, and that all necessary permits and approvals are obtained.
9. Monitoring and analyzing departmental financial data to ensure that departmental profit margins meet or exceed budgeted levels.
10. Encouraging a strong focus on safety and promoting safe work practices to ensure that all work is performed in accordance with OSHA regulations and best practices.
