Job Overview

The Vice President of Community will be responsible for shaping how we connect, support and grow our user base. Our community consists of users, creators, non-profits and brands. You will work to address the unique needs of each segment in order to increase engagement and retention on the platform. You will develop programs and experiences to excite and reward the community. In partnership with Marketing you will expand our community outreach efforts and help to onboard new VIP users. This role will also work with the Product team to identify and add community-centric features based on early learnings from our Beta users. The platform will mainly consist of user-generated content but the Vice President of Community will also own and define a clear content strategy based on initial community direction. Additionally, you will hire and manage a Creator Partner Manager and scale the team as needed.


Successful candidates will enjoy innovating, and challenging the status quo.This person should be comfortable working with senior leadership and C-suite executives in a fast-paced and ambitious environment.You should have a genuine fascination for social media, and a commitment to affecting global change.

Stuff You’ll Work On

  • Collaborate with creators to turn feedback into insightful recommendations and opportunities
  • Develop guidelines around best practices to foster community engagement across the platform, including definition of the tone needed to create engaging content
  • Develop and execute an informed, innovative and data-driven community engagement strategy
  • Identify opportunities to curate meaningful content and programs that add value to the community
  • Monitor, study and report use cases for community members
  • Establish KPIs for community growth and engagement and maintain tracking and feedback
  • Perform content audits, utilizing data to assess how well existing content is performing for users, creators and brands
  • Use analytics to determine the best way to engage users, increase community loyalty and generate brand awareness
  • Define responsibilities, hire and manage creator partner manager (and full team, in success)
  • Strategize content verticals, defining the right proprietary mix of legacy areas and emerging trends/topics
  • Capitalize on growth and engagement opportunities based upon data, audience feedback, and industry trends
  • Partner with Product team to design functionality to increase retention and engagement of the community.


Stuff You’ve Done

  • Undergraduate degree, equivalent work experience, or an equally compelling collection of non-academic life experiences
  • Experience working with or managing a team of creator partner managers
  • Experience asking insightful questions that uncover the heart of an issue, and frame data so that it effectively conveys the right takeaways
  • Experience designing content strategy and technology roadmaps
  • A team player who is willing to get their hands dirty and where no type of work is “beneath” you
  • Demonstrated success in planning and implementing strategy for a social media platform
  • Clear and effective communicator, and comfortable engaging and debating an executive team
  • 10 years in a social media, marketing or community-specific role with extensive experience in mobile platforms and apps, preferably community-driven UGC
  • Proven success running company-wide initiatives across multiple departments
  • Sound knowledge of content management systems, keyword research tools, social media platforms, search engine optimization (SEO), and search engine marketing (SEM)
  • Deep understanding of the technological tools and software in the space to help scale operations and get the job done
  • Experience making tough decisions based on complex information and difficult tradeoffs
  • Worked in a highly creative and data-driven capacity, iterating based on performance and qualitative community feedback

Base Salary: $115,000 - $150,000. At Roar Social, base pay is one part of our total compensation package. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on your skills, qualifications and experience.
