Purpose of Position
The Plant Human Resource Manager is responsible for planning, and implementing human resources policies, programs, and procedures within a multi-shift manufacturing operation. Maintains and develops effective internal procedures, handles employee relations issues, supports recruiting and retention efforts, and facilitates employee engagement. Partners with Operations leadership on achieving business strategy and provides HR counsel and coaching that drives employee engagement.
Primary Duties
•The position serves as a consultant to manufacturing leaders as well as a partner to global team members.
•Supports employees on their professional path and/or competency development, including timely professional mobility between departments and facilities.
•Ensure critical jobs and positions are staffed timely.
•Assist with recruitment efforts and prepare employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation and training programs.
•Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to employment law, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance, partnering with the legal department as needed/required.
•Proactively manage employee relations issues, including fair and consistent application of policies, programs and procedures.
•Conduct thorough and effective investigations and documented corrective action plans as needed, handling confidential matters with discretion.
•Provide consultation and guidance for managers and team members on company policies and processes.
•Identify and recommend areas of improvement to internal standard operating procedures, including team restructuring and morale.
•Support departments in the development and delivery of strategic HR plans to fit with the overall business direction.
•Champion the onboarding process, ensuring the process is up to date and of high quality, providing clarity and connection for all employees and their role in relation to the overall vision.
•Partner with business leaders to identify talent needs and develop recruiting and workforce staffing plans.
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:
•5-10 years’ human resource generalist experience with 3-5 years’ experience as the senior most Human Resources Manager at a manufacturing facility.
•Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field. MBA, MS, or MA preferred.
•Solid understanding and knowledge of Human Resource practices in recruitment, organization development, policy administration, benefits, training and team-member relations.
•Knowledge of state and federal employment regulations, and record keeping requirements; including best practices in the field.
