Manager, Business Development- Residential Energy

The Residential Energy team works to deploy Tesla Energy products including Solar Roof, Solar Panels, Powerwall and Wall Connectors to end customers who enjoy the many benefits of the premier residential energy products available in the market. Growing our customer base, expanding market share and helping to develop our partnerships is critical to the ongoing success of Tesla’s energy business.
The Business Development Manager is a dynamic role that requires a broad range of skillsets and experience. This role is responsible for owning and executing strategic initiatives and projects, ranging from modeling market fundamentals and trends, to developing new offers across primarily residential markets, to synthesizing tough business problems into executive-level decision points. Strong candidates for this role will be well-versed in energy markets and storage technology, will bring a structured approach to solving problems, strong executive-level communications, and a history of successfully managing a wide array of projects and stakeholders. In summary, the Business Development Manager will analyze markets, shape emerging business models, and advise the energy business on how best to meet Tesla’s mission of accelerating the transition to sustainable energy.
What You’ll Do

• Understand emerging industry trends and educate the rest of the company; update strategy, offers, and products accordingly.
• Analyze new geographies, applications, product offerings and business models for residential energy products across direct, channel and new homes businesses.
• Develop and implement new market entry strategies and first-of-their-kind projects.
• Collect and synthesize data and intel to develop data driven strategy. Track goals and initiatives from strategy decisions.
• Develop and execute on outreach strategies with major market players, potential customers, and potential partners in support of the team's many initiatives.
• Lead cross-functional, cross-regional initiatives to align on organizational strategy and present results to leadership.
• Prioritize initiatives that accelerate target achievement.

What You’ll Bring
Required:

3+ years of electricity industry/roofing industry/solar industry experience with a broad understanding of how these industries work.

Ability to project manage large initiatives with many stakeholders, driving the group to decisions and demonstrating results.

Ability to define and structure broad asks into logical frameworks for analysis and executive decision-making.

Very strong written and verbal communication skills.

Very strong analytical skills, including basic financial modeling.

High proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

English fluency

Preferred:

5+ years electricity/roofing/solar industry experience

Experience with energy storage technology and value propositions across residential, C&I, and/or utility verticals

Experience with new market entry strategy

Advanced financial and/or energy product modeling abilities
